I must agree with this assessment. The promotional photos that I saw of her didn't do a good job of showing how expressive she can be. These are exceptional.

The ones that DS have of Xiaoli are from back when I very first got her, and I like to think we have improved together since then

(She also uses her Jaiyi head more than her Emily head now as well)

Ah... sorry. I should've been clearer. The only promotional photos I've seen are those that Dollstudio has on their site.

Yeah, the DS promo photos of the older models are not all that great IMHO, the new girls on the 167 body are fantastic though.

This thread started in 2015. I joined TDF in August 2018 and not until today, August 14th 2020 did I find the yummy Xiaoli spam!

A lovely girl and wonderful photos! I'll stay tuned from now on

Bless her she's in surgery again, this time for her right hip thats become too loose to function now. She'll be fine once I get it all buttoned up again, but until then, here's a cheeky little shot...

She's doing well. Closed up the incision today.

OK, first up everything you see from April onwards is the same wig! She wears it 24x7 in bed and during photo shoots. It's a long 3 layered wig, so she has different volumes of hair at each length and the layers can be styled independently giving a more natural and interesting appearance. (and it cost £10 from Ebay)

In bed she usually has a ponytail in to keep it from getting too badly tangled.
Once every couple of months I steam it and brush it over a boiling kettle to make it straight and remove the frizzy ends.
I have a temperature controlled curling wand I used at 140c to put the curls back in.
VERY OCCASIONALLY I will apply some wig conditioner to it.

The rest is just styling and practice. I love girls hair, it's the first thing I notice about a girl, then her eyes and smile. So I watch youtube vids for the styles I like and then practice them on Xiaoli.

I generally keep a few of the same wig in reserve as well, so that when the current one gets utterly beyond saving I have the same wig to start over with. Once I found the one I liked for her I bought 2 extras and put them away. Her previous style that she has used since 2015 was no longer available.

The only modification I've done to the wig is to put in a couple of tucks at the back and some better elastic so that it grips her head properly. This is essential for all the "up" styles she wears as they need a good anchor around the head, and the edge of the wig cap must be tight to the head for it to look right.
