Scheduled Member Gallery Upgrade
Scheduled Member Gallery Upgrade
I will be attempting to upgrade the Member Gallery software on August 26th (tomorrow). This means that the Member Gallery (not the Doll Album) may be off line for various periods of time during the day.
Thanks,
Ish
The Member Gallery has now been upgraded. The reason that we needed to do this is because the old version was not deleting the actual photo files when something was deleted (just the display reference).
The delete now appears to be working OK.
There are also some new features such as a "favorates" folder.
They've added some things that can't be turned off or changed. The main page has been changed quite a bit.
One of the changes that I don't like is that if the member has an avatar, they show that on the userindex rather than an image from the album. Also, they appearently have the avatars directory hard coded because the people who are using custom avatars are not showing up.
Personally, this new "improvement" sucks, and they should have made this configurable rather than forcing someone's avatar to represent their album.
I'll see later on if I can find where they are doing this and recode it so that the user album is represented by a photo rather than their avatar.

Other thread with listed albums for deletion will be deleted Friday as stated (unless this has all ready been done).
I like avatars representing albums. I see the logic in that and like the change. However, the possibility of having a choice is better.
Actually, the upgrade went a lot smootherthan I had expected.
I modified the software so it only shows a sample from the member's album in the user index. So that problem is now fixed.
If anyone excounters anything strange in the Member Gallery, please let me know here in this thread.
Thanks,
Ish

I guess that's just one of those Group Theory things.Inkling wrote:What follows is not a complaint - I'm just curious.
How can an Album Updated be logically different than a Latest Upload?
If it's not a new album then an upload is an update - no?
A new groupie in a group makes for both an updated group, and a new groupie.
