My DS Mini Also Has Broken Back

Here are a few to start with. Let me know if you want better angles! You can see the shrapnel in the lugs on the third photo! The screw you can see in the top section of the back is just a self tapper to hold the support bolt. No wonder it caused the fracture I had if a shock force went through it!

Yeah, well I've gone so far in cutting that I might as well try to replace all these joints - I've nothing to lose now! The only issue I may have is the head. Although the top of the back was broken when she arrived and at first I thought it was the neck, I've since realised the screw section in the head is not moving by hand so I hope it will free off when I've completed the repairs and before I close her up again!
Here's a picture of the back of the pelvis. You can see the grooves are quite deep so the silicone will have flown into the grooves/recesses so I need to peel it away carefully and hopefully not damage it so I can feed it back into the new part.

Geesh, what the hell happened to your mini!?!? Sounds like she was run over by a truck?!

I think the box was dropped as well as being stood on end - couple that with loose packaging and.......
The main problem was a shock wave that must have gone through the mounting bolt in the back which cracked the top part of the back, broke the neck attachment joint and cracked the left shoulder (which then broke easily when trying to move her)! The same probably happened with the hip joint which seemed to go loose without me doing anything much at all! DS said she must have been dropped from the third floor but I don't think you need to do much in the way of dropping or manual handling to force a joint against its direction of movement!

I think the grooves are to keep the silicone from delaminating from the skeleton. I don't think you'll be able to peel the silicone out and replace it...

I also don't think you'll be able to feel any difference if you remove the silicone that fills the grooves. but it would feel strange if that silicone pulled out of the groove and didn't go back in.

I'm hoping it will fit back in or at least some of it will! If not, I'll see if SilPoxy can bond bits of it into the grooves! I'm quite confident I can peel it out intact though. I may be able to start this weekend so wish me luck!

Cheers, Lone! I just had a bit of spare time so I thought I would start on extracting the pelvis. Shit it's going to take a long time! I think it's working by using a sharp ended screwdriver slowly scraping off the silicone. Those grooves certainly work to hold the body on to the skeleton! I'm not going to rush it so don't expect too many posts from me over the next few days about it!

OK Here we go! I forgot that the last attachment goes first in line so bear with me here! I'm too bushed to delete and reattach!
The last pic at the bottom shows it looks like it's coming away!
The next coming upwards are a series of three showing it is coming away but boy was that hard work!
The next shows the joint still attached which I have to undo. I left the washers and nut in situ hoping it will make it a bit easier to reattach.
The next is the culprit with its broken end on the right leg!
Lastly, or the first one you see, is what she looks like without any pelvis! I can't see any damage to the vaginal area so hopefully all's well so far.
I don't think I have the mental energy to try fit the new bit in today - I'll let you know later!

Seems the best skilled required to keep our minis in working order is to be a trained butcher, because this looks a lot like what I see at the meat market. Scary chit!!
