Rose Cosplay: Mad Moxxi

Post by Mr A »

Hey all!

It's been a few months since I received my first doll, Rose, and I finally got around to doing her first real cosplay photo shoot. I had planned to do a shoot every couple months (or even more if they end up being popular) and still do, but being lazy and busy with life it took me awhile to finally get to it.

Keep in mind I am an absolute amateur photographer, with a POS camera, and probably an even worse set-up, that had to basically learn PS from scratch, but I think they came out okay. I had an absolute blast trying to figure everything out and I couldn't wait to share them with everyone to see what you all think. I've uploaded the images to dollharem as some of them are NSFW (link below), and I'll probably add the safe ones to the Doll Album as soon as it lets me login. I'm not really too keen on album/harem though as I had to shrink down the image sizes drastically. If anyone knows a better hosting site for these kinds of images that doesn't have quality/size restrictions let me know!

My first photo shoot is none other than the Borderlands's own Miss Mad Moxxi, Pandora and Elpis's own resident sex icon, barkeep, MILF, floozy, gun runner, mechanic...she has a lot of titles. If you know who she is, you know what to expect, and if you don't, shame on you go play Borderlands. I've attached two of my favorite pictures from the shoot below to give you a sample. And yes, the gritty/cel-shaded effect on the images is intentional to help match the tone of the games (google it if you don't know what it is).

Please let me know what you think and if you want to see more like these in the future. So without further ado I give you my first cosplay photo shoot: Mad Moxxi. Enjoy!

Don't be so hard on yourself, "a mature photographer with a POS camera"
Really?
You are doing an awesome job, photos are great.

Suggestion? You are terrific with a "POS" camera would be interesting to see your work with a better camera.
Can you say "AMAZING"?

Haha thanks! It really means a lot hearing that. I'm seriously a complete noob when it comes to cameras though and all their functions. I picked up a KODAK Pixpro AZ251 on Black Friday last year for like 80 bucks. It has a few advanced functions but it's no DSLR and I don't have any attachable lenses, plus I generally just leave it on auto mode since trying to adjust it myself usually just ended in failure. It's not a bad camera per se, but most serious photographers would probably toss it in the junk heap lol.

I attribute the decent image quality to my picking up of photoshop rather quickly and my wife's amazing make-up skills. The pictures don't look nearly as good without the filter on. I attached the picture from above without the filter on so you can see the difference. The filter really helps alleviate what I call the "photoshop" look. I learned a lot though from this first shoot, especially on how to shoot things that will make editing them later much easier (vastly different colored backgrounds make cropping/deleting backgrounds a million times easier. Similar to why neon-greenish or blue is often used for green screen effects). Hopefully my skills will keep improving :). Practice, practice, practice.

Thanks again everyone for the kind words and support! I gotta start thinking about who to shoot next.
