Hi,

There are not a lot of women interested in the dolls but I am one of only a handful. Most studies only want to focus on the dolls as sex toys. Most will tell you, unless they store them away and only take them out for a 'session' they treat them well like any other doll collector does with costume, makeup and wig changes. There's a lot more to these dolls than just the sex aspect. I just think the allure of the sex with a human replica makes it hard to see any other virtues of the dolls. They save lives, help men to focus their attention into positive behaviors and keep those alone from being lonely. Just focusing on the sex is not healthy or accurate to the joy these dolls add to the lives of many.

No disrespect to our anonymous student here, but I believe he/she would learn much much more about dolls and doll owners by taking the time to read the countless posts within the annals of TDF and discover how deeply violette's sentiments ring true! Again, no disrespect, but the survey itself is rather superficial when compared to the depth of emotional attachment many of our members have for their dolls and the many ways these dolls have rescued their owners from so many of life's struggles. Dear Anthropology student, I HIGHLY suggest you communicate with violette_22 here. My guess is that she could give you enough info and insight on this topic, from both the male and female point of view, to write an entire thesis worthy of publishing!

That was interesting though I had some questions about the meaning behind some of the words you used.
Such as, I define "an intimate relationship" as "having sex with"
I believe you defined it in the survey as "having an emotional relationship", which is significantly different to my mind.
