Hello everyone

I'm completely new to the scene. I've wanted a doll ever since I was like a young teenager. I always thought, "no, I could never do that." Now I realize ... why not?

So I'm starting to look around for a doll! I could definitely use a lot of help from all you experts. I already posted on the general forum about comparing options. So far I really like YL , WM, and 6YE. For me, I just want her to look and feel like a real body, inside and out. I like the taller dolls with medium to smaller sized breasts.

Sage advice eh? OK, Firstly decide if you want TPE or silicone. Have a look at the maintenance required for TPE dolls, oiling etc, against the lack of maintenance required for silicone and then decide if that's an issue for you. https://www.dollforum.com/forum/viewtop ... 27&t=77364 Silicone is easier to repair should you need to.
Consider the weight of the proposed doll. There is a thread which shows the true weight of many dolls as weighed by owners. https://www.dollforum.com/forum/viewtop ... 87&t=76649 I would recommend you don't exceed 30Kg unless you are a particularly strong or fit person.
Once you have narrowed the search by these two options you may have some idea, based on your budget and height requirements, which range of dolls is for you. Then just find the one you love. Easy.

Silicone is not easier to repair, TPE is.

LeonBehrens, the general consensus for a long time has been that silicone is easier to repair than TPE.
I would be grateful if you would point me towards some information which shows this to be contrary.

Agreed With Mondoon.

For small lesions, tpe glue and a light melt technique like XS dolls posted is fine, and the Indigo repair kit is ideal for minor ruptures as well for TPE, but for major seem rejoining after doing a chassis or joint repair, tpe can be a nightmare, and silicone is far easier.

I have fixed up a lot of dolls when I was doll smithing, but I would also like to here what Samara has to say, as she has even fixed more than me.

Hi fellas. Silicone is easier for me to repair. But tpe takes less cure time in my opinion.

Hot melting melting tpe makes it unsafe to breathe in.
Using uncured silicone to repair silicone also has it's risks and should also be well ventilated.
Silicone in my opinion is super easy to repair and requires less patience.
