This is absolutely great and I love the look they chose. If they integrate some sensors in the body for reactions etc, it's a no-brainer buy imo. Very interested in seeing the price point they enter at...

This is probably the best range of facial movements I've seen on a robot head (and I've seen dedicated robot researchers fail in that regard). I hope the motors won't be too loud, ZOne's winking-blinking head was very quiet so I know it's possible.

Please keep us updated as progress continues. It will be wonderful to follow this project.

I'm glad there is progress in this area.

One simple change to make it better is the easement on the facial animation. The motors snap to the final expression way too quick. Smoothing the speed out with an easement transition would improve this greatly.

One tough but amazing leap would be to add an under skin heartbeat pulse. Now people can never describe they see this, but when you see CGI characters, they always know they are not real. And if it is not a modeling problem, then it is the dead flesh. The heartbeat is such a subtle thing, but MIT has proved that it is detectable on all real actors even with makeup on. Hollywood, video game creators, and AI doll makers really needs to get on board with this if they want to get out of the uncanny valley. It will be simple in media, but in dolls it will be very difficult to have an even and diffused subsurface lighting change.

Speech recognition, processing conversation and natural response still has a long ways to go. But maybe if Apple/Amazon/Google provide an OEM product that doll makers can leverage, this would help out.

A robot girlfriend would be the best, but she would have to act so well for me to be happy with her. Otherwise the current off version is supreme.

The person was running a game controller to make expression then sent that to a IPhone.

This is cool if thy let you use your own controller.

You could make your own movies with her real eases.

I would honestly LOVE a running blog about this development, even if it's only posted to once per week with minor news, just to keep up to date sort of like the software and hardware development I follow in the PC market... My appetite for more info here is voracious.

Oh Wow! That is the best expression I have seen on a robot yet. The other's have been a bit creepy but this one actually looks pretty good. I'm really excited to see what the future brings.
