I often wonder how much is the doll and how much is you....I mean I go look at the dealer sites and go...oh...kinda okay I guess and then I see your photos and wonder is that really the same doll? Make up, clothes, posing, painting what ever it is it is pure magic!

What ever magic you have it's to bad you can't sell it in a bottle....

Thanks LR. I do not use any manipulation on the photos I shot for the companies. The only thing I do is remove hairs and unwanted dust or dirt specs. I use some PS filters to get the style of image I'm shooting for like curves, clarity, sharpening and color balance but I get as much right in camera.

Now when I do a photochallenge image, I will use a lot of different tools to get the image to convey the theme. But even then, I get as much in the camera as possible. Compositing a photo of a doll into another image is something I love to do! It is really important to me that I get it right. Light direction, color and contrast, perspective and size. I have had to pull all the stops at times when it comes to composites like the Attack of the 50 ft woman. This image was made from over 30 layers. If you look. I really tried to photograph each doll at the right angle so they appear to be all on the same plane of perspective. I sometimes move my tripod to 3 different levels to get what looks right.

You might call it magic and that is really nice but I call it learning. It has been a few 24 hrs of practice and anyone can do it with passion and the right instructions. There are tons of workshops out there. Two that I really love are Creative live and Kelby training. These are huge resources for learning this craft. The experts on these sites are leaps above and are always entertaining in their methods! Go for it ! I highly recommend. Thanks again!
