Re: Tell us your views about sex - study of doll users.
If anything I'm a doll "owner" and not a doll "user".
Sorry, but IMHO use and abuse fall in the same category.
Whereas ownership comes along with responsibilities!
I've found some parts of the test very confusing not to say disturbing.
The emphasis in the second half is all about children and sex.
These two categories were even combined in the word-association "game".
The only reason I didn't quit at that point was because I was curious about
where you are going with this.
I was hoping the test might focus on other aspects of doll-ownership as well,
instead it seems to focus primarily on "doll users" and if they are potential
rapists or pedophiles...
But I have a scientific background myself and I know that doing surveys isn't
as trivial as one might think. And I'm willing to participate in other studies as
well in the future, if they focus on "doll-ownership" and not primarily on abuse.
Yet here I am, dreaming about reality again...

Just a cross reference for everyone who is interested.

Re: Tell us your views about sex - study of doll users.
Thanks very much for your comments, interest, and feedback in relation to this research so far. This project is being supervised by Dr. Craig Harper, who is indeed a member of the sexual crime research group mentioned in previous posts. However, we wanted to reduce some of the concerns about the research that some people may have. Craig has previously conducted work that is very critical of media representations of a range of controversial topics (e.g., sexual offending, paedophilia, and the ownership of dolls). If you are interested in checking out this research, you can see some writing at this website: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Craig_Harper2.
Please be assured that this research does not contain any anti-doll bias at all. We are actually interested in being able to communicate more accurately about the people who own dolls. We’ve seen lots of stories in the news recently about dolls and the people who own them, and without any data to say the opposite, it’s very difficult to counter these arguments. So what we’re trying to do is to survey doll owners on their views about these things (non-owners are being surveyed using the same questions too), so that we will be in a position to tell your story and promote a more rational discussion about doll ownership with data. Our approach to this is entirely sex-positive, and we are coming into this project in a completely open and non-judgemental way.
We are happy to keep the forum informed as we get some results analysed in the coming weeks and months.
Please do continue to let us know if there are any questions or comments about the research. We apologise for using the phrase “sex doll users”. Please bear with us while we continue to learn with your assistance about this emerging area. While we can’t now change the wording in the survey, we will be reflecting the issues of love and ownership (rather than ‘sex doll use’) in our writing about this topic.
Thanks once again for your time and interest,
Sian and Craig

Not sure what the goal was either as the survey seemed to be fixated on how the test taker feels about sexual violence or coercive sexual encounters. Not sure what that has to do with the subject of owning or wanting to own sex toys(love dolls). I also thought the implicit assumption based on the nature of the questions is that the individual taking the test is going to be hyper sexual by default or something.
When the word association part started, I did start to wonder about it. i.e..Is this an objective attempt to reach conclusions about a certain group of people or a way to support a theory about a certain group of people--namely, that they are violent and deranged?

In correlational studies of this type, it can be very difficult to get a large enough sample size to get significant results.
In other words, I'm not sure if they're going to find any significant difference between "doll users" and "others" who have taken this test.
If anything, they might pick up on the therapeutic effects of doll ownership. Sex Therapy, of any kind, might show up as a positive change in attitude in one of the domains specified.

My thoughts, too. Knowing this, I will be sure to take the survey.nukeno wrote:Thanks Sian and Craig for the clarification.

Bingo! Singling doll owners out is more strange than what some assume about us.ZannyDanger wrote:...i'm sure you'll find that we're actually just a bunch of "relatively normal" people with "relatively normal" sexual practices and fantasies. Being with a doll doesn't automatically make you a sexual deviant.

No one should care more about the appearance of someone’s Fleshlight than whether someone owns one. Second, not everyone uses dolls for sex.
Sextoy use has long been considered acceptable and promoted as healthy by experts. It surprises me that, somehow, some categorize dolls as something far different. What could make anyone think that a guy who purchases a pocket pussy wouldn’t prefer a doll.
Many dolls are works of art, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that folks admire them and enjoy them in intimate and non intimate ways.
There are many erroneous assumptions and associations that, pragmatically, make no sense. I’m sure some criminals purchase bubblegum. Should bubblegum be criminalized?
I decline for two reasons: I don’t have time and the comments made indicate, to me, that the questions are irrelevant.
Although I decline, I’ve passed the news on beyond this forum.

Oh I could take that argument apart but this is not a political forum so I will have to refrain,...
But as stated,.. 'Doll User' has to me a negative cogitation.
I notice in the multiple choice section there isn't any neutral choice.
The set answers don't allow for context.

That said, I may ask Lilith to do it, as she is a doll user and owner, and has a unique perspective from her unique point of view

Does Sean_E know that dolls write posts here on TDF?
I was also thinking that if "Hellboy" ever got hold of a 'Test'.
