Exdoll is running an experiment to gauge interest in a new fantasy style elf head. They need to sell 10 units or the experiment will be considered a failure and the head will never be produced again! This head is a 145cm size it only comes in light pink right now and the eyes are immovable.

How so? I have been browsing these forums for quite some time and am almost certain to buy NinaE as my first doll but this is making me reconsider. I am quite fond of the unrealistic style of it. It reminds of the Willow head from S********s.

They should also make another face but with a more adult appearance.

Hmmm. I like Anime, and I like elves. But something about her seems 'off'. I'm not sure what it is but I think her facial details are mabey too realistic (and young). In other words the mouth and nose seem too realistic, even though they are set really low on her face. So (to me) she seems kind of like an awkward mashup of elf and anime. Not to mention, her hair and clothing aren't helping. She needs an 'Elf' outfit and longer flowing hair. The critical component would also be a 'standing' photo, or seated with legs outstretched. She should have somewhat thin legs which are disproportionately long. You're buying a 'package' not just a face, so I would want to see how all the elements fit together. As is - she has solid features individually (albeit too young), and together they miss the mark for me. But fine tuned with even just outfit, hair and some fantasy make-up, and it might come together.

I like it! The galaxy-styled iris is what's a bit too crazy for my taste, but I've been hoping for an anime face with big eyes like this to be made, while the elf ears is a great bonus!

But as mentioned above, I think the doll is poorly presented in the pictures. The theme doesn't fit her at all nor makes any sense, and I would love to see some pictures of the the whole doll in not more than underwear to get a better idea of the whole thing.

I'd love to own it, but right now I don't really feel like buying a whole DS doll that isn't even on my "top 5" list, just for the head. Also sad to hear the eyes are not movable. I'd instantly buy it for my Ex-Lite though if a matching version was available for it.

I do hope that it sells good enough to stay in production. Honestly I don't understand why they can't just keep the casting-stuff around anyway. It's just the eyes that may be a special order, but hey, it's China, the country where everything is made! I'm sure they could figure something out.

Also, this head will likely gain a good value after a while if production is cut.

You can have naturally big eyes without needing to accentuate them.

They literally could have just hired Lucy Hale and given her cgi skin to give a plastic android look.

I don't think this movie will do well at all.

I think I agree with that. Although, she seems to be growing on me the more I look.

She has kind of a creepy whimsical look. Maybe they should've costumed her with horns like a naughty imp or something!

Regardless I hope is a success. I would like to see different pictures with different color eyes, wigs, outfits, etc to see if she grows on me more. I mean I love anime, I love fantasy girls, but I'm kind of unsure how I feel about her. Maybe seen different options I can have a more clear view. I think she is really cute, and a piece of art.

Personally, I have mixed feelings as well. She is simultaneously cute and creepy to me, somewhat depending on the photo and pose. I think I'm with Willendorph - maybe it is better to go all in creepy, so she is less human. Too bad Ex/DS doesn't do custom skin colors. She might be really cool as an actual red or green imp with yellow or red eyes. Something about her human and nonhuman qualities combined are weird to me. My brain can't figure out how to react to her. Perhaps this design would be a better fit scaled down for the mini dolls?

From a consumer perspective, more options are always a good thing. In particular, this looks to be on the DS 145+ body and therefore compatible with the other DS/Ex 145 bodies. There are fare fewer head options for that doll than the larger ones, so this helps balance out the lineup. However, from a US consumer perspective, I worry that this may be limited to only Ex Doll, the Chinese domestic branch, so that ex-China customers may not ever get a chance at this option. What if it would be a huge hit in the west but not in China? Here in the US, the options are the most limited. Some of these limitations seem to be to avoid running into legal issues (e.g. no 145- or mini dolls for the US), but the US site doesn't even offer accessories like wigs and clothing sets for large dolls, things that should not be at all objectionable. I may not opt for this head, but I'm sure some would, and I hope they get the option.

It's an attractive head, and if I had room for another doll maybe...

If they went so extreme as to do punched fur like a catgirl, there would be no question. I don't need the space, she can just be around, it's happening.

Jimbofod I spoke to John of Ds Dolls and he confirmed that this head can be shipped to the united states.
