Hi! This is Korra, my DS 163+.
This is meant to be an introduction and a 1 year review.
I've had a really hard time deciding what to say about this doll, because I got her for very personal reasons. I feel I owe it to DS and the other reviews that helped me to say a little something. It was the Alisa head with blue eyes that just spoke to me, one of the DS doll vendors had a little paragraph about her personality and profession. It was her face, her name and her back story (things that are more convincing than you know) that drove me to buy her. I wouldn't change a thing about her other than add an "S" to her name - I call her "Alissa". I may post more pictures of her one day...
However, this post is about Korra. In June 2015 DS (now EX) had a free extra head sale with the purchase of a 168+ (now 163+). I had seen the Kayla face on scam sites before I knew she was from DS, and was always intrigued. So I chose her with green eyes as the free head.
At the time no other body came close to the 163 in my mind. I liked the idea of an easily cleaned insert and loose joints. Next time I will go with stiff joints because now I know how much fun and life are brought to the doll when she can pose on her own. Plus moving a loose jointed doll can be tricky when her little arms flop in the way. Yet it is very convincing how she can run her nails across your back and chest.
Ordering:
John was very helpful and responded right away. It gives you a good feeling of trust. The pics he sent me of the faces blew me away. There is nothing like seeing "your doll is completed" in your inbox. It was nerve wracking waiting for DHL to deliver my doll. They showed up 10 minutes before they make their last deliveries. No damage though.
The body:
The doll is very life like with nice red shading in subtle areas. The silicone they used in 2015 is very soft and smooth. I like how I don't have to apply powder very often. The skin stays smooth for a long time. If you grab her hard, the marks from you fingers stay for a second then disappear.
I kind of regret not getting the smaller boobed 163, I went with the bigger ones at the last minute because I thought I would get more use out of them. The boobs are very soft but don't jiggle like some TPE toys I've had.
The butt is very nice but I'd prefer more of a bubble next time. Something in between the 163 and the 167. If only they had made the butt as soft and squishy as some other areas like her feet and shoulders. It is a little hard.
^Not easy to balance a loose jointed doll.
Don't make these mistakes like I did:
-I was lifting her to the center of my queen size bed when my foot inexplicably slipped out from under me and she fell. She landed right on her face and I saw her fingers and feet get smashed almost sideways! I regained balance and caught her on the first bounce and luckily there was no damage at all. Well built doll. I always put one knee on the bed when moving her now instead of bending over it.
-Be careful storing the head. I used to wrap her back up in the foam ninja mask they sent her in. Somehow the mask thingy slipped up and was pressing on her eyelashes. I couldn't see it through the wrapping but they were all crooked when I opened her. They went back to normal after a while. Lucky me.
-I used some lube on the outside of the insert to slip it in the cavity that got kind of sticky when pulling it out. I was over confident in the strength of the insert cavity and put my hands too far in. The top split open a little. Luckily it was easily fixed with RTV silicone adhesive.
-The area around the insert cavity opening is kind of flaking off. I think it's just the paint. I'm sure it's my fault and not DS's. I must have used some lube that wasn't water-based or maybe it was the condoms I used.??
The biggest negatives to me:
-The weak anal opening is too small and tears too easily. It was not a good feeling when it tore on me. It made me feel like a brute. I wonder how hard it would be to make your own insert. I was able to fix that tear too.
-I'd like a smaller looking insert like the 167 or built-in option that looks better when the legs are spread. Don't like how the insert cavity caves in when you press it. I thought insert was the way to go till I tried built-in, just prefer it now. The 167 insert seems to be as good as it gets. Would love to try.
-I didn't want to admit it, but I just don't like the way her feet look. They are too flat and have almost the opposite of an arch. When her ankles are bent it just doesn't look right. They look okay from the bottom but the sides don't look natural in open side heels. Maybe it's just my doll because other pics I've seen of the 163 look more natural. Unless I'm really missing something, my doll does not want to arch her foot. Personality:
Korra is a bit aloof and likes to possess things. I got some new headphones and she liked them better than hers so she took them. At least she gave me her old ones (the left ear cuts out if I move).
In conclusion wouldn't pass on a DS/EX doll especially with the advancements they have made and continue to make. (I'd probably get a 167.) As long as they continue to fix the problems they've had with some of their other dolls. I hope they unveil another new doll soon that blows me away.
I really like my doll, Thanks!
