apperared it would have been simpler: cut along the seamline and replace a tube kind of repair.
It started out looking like quite innocent. Some day by the end of 2013 I noticed the change of motion in the left thigh of the doll. The tube inside had beem repaired (in 2008) with thin walled steel tube over the original PVC pipe. It felt like it was getting loose. I decided to wait and see. Opening up the limb is not particularly fun. But what I did not anticipate the limb would open up by itself.

2014-03-24 OH. THIS DOES NOT LOOK TOO GOOD
2014-03-26 the limb has been carved hollow to expose the joint. Because the foam was also split to half I decided to replace the foam nearby as well. Insead of soft PU foam I would use fiberfill fluff soaked in 00-10 silicone for better adhesion with doll skin and also for some durability overkill. The new tubes which I prepared may also be overkill for a doll which does not have to stand.
But here we go. I rather not repair this again any time soon.
