Head attach rebuild

Post by Cud »

Some more gore entertaiment.)

Ever been curious if it is possible to break the parts inside doll's head? And, if it is possible to break it can it be fixed. The answer is: yes, but chances are you never need to do it.

The motivation was to restore the head attachement mechanism which lost its teeth. My fault. I don't go into details.
It is unlikely many ever need to open the skull because of mechanical failure.

It may be nice to know what is there, though.

1. Breakig into the skull is necessary to get access to the parts
2. Rebuld what was is broken
3. Everything back together and aligned. (..)

Nice photos! Seeing all these fixes using 3D printed parts really makes me want to buy a 3D printer myself.

How easy was it to remove all those metal parts and other stuff from inside the head? I am considering buying a 4Woods head and mount it on my future fabric doll but the insights need to be emptied.

There are no insides you can dremmel out around the connector just enough. You would need a sleeve of a certain depth to finish it say a thich plastic coke bottle or perhaps a clean pringles can with plastic padding around the inside so the head does not slip out of place

Alright so just dremel the fiberglass away from the neck hole? That is a really helpful bit of info. Thanks!

Originally I though I'd stuff the inside of a head with foam to make the head attach firmly to my doll's neck, but a plastic bottle is way more ingenious. It'll be lighter and much more firm grip to the neck. This might actually work.
