Re: Sil-Poxy Silicone Adhesive For Silicone Doll Repair
The problem with it is the cure time. When fresh it is about 5 minutes working time and totally unworkable within 10 minutes. It is expensive.
Even with care and quick sealing of the tube immediately after squirting out the amount required this time progressively reduces until the sil poxy cures in the tube and becomes useless so most of the tube is thrown away.
Normally it comes in a 3 oz tube @ $50 +
There is a 1/2 oz tube @ around $12 which is more practical for our purposes.
The 1/2 oz tube is not available in Australia. With shipping the 3 oz tube in Australia is around $70. I am currently trying to find someone who will supply me with a few 1/2 oz tubes and who accepts paypal . To date I have not been successful.
I would be grateful if anyone knows where I can get some and let me know.
Strangely the Smooth On website does not indicate the 1/2 oz tube as an option and many of the companies that do have it for sale do not ship internationally.
Anyone? Please.

I find it to works well
For finishing the job I use Wolfe FX platinum silicon that can be colored with normal acrylic paint, as per the people at Wolfe, you can buy at most hobby stores. You mix at 2% pigment in volume so it gives you the ability to custom mix the color you need

I sealed Natasha's knee with it years ago and it is still holding up well. (see http://dollforum.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... ee#p413879
But I found it doesn't work so well on platinum. Silpoxy does.
But then every doll manufacturer has different platinum mixes so I guess it is trial and error for individual dolls.

Can I use sil-poxy as a replacement for this tube? My tube has reached the point where the material at the tube end has hardened, so I have to make holes in other areas of the tube to access uncured material. Obviously this isn't a good long term strategy and I will need to replace it soon...

If it's the same as the stuff shown on this eBay link, it's expensive.doppler wrote:This is what my unison doll came with (tin-cured).

Re: Sil-Poxy Silicone Adhesive For Silicone Doll Repair
I always have a fresh box/tube on the shelf. It is just part of the expense of owning a doll/s. It works out to like $3 a month which is nothing compared to the cost of everything else in life. It is of the utmost importance to address and repair any tear or accident immediately. or replace that smashed eyelash ...
Smooth On does sell the 1/2 oz tubes but only wholesale commercially in quantity.

I was going to suggest the same thing!Thndrrbolt wrote:I was able to get single 1/2 ounce tubes from Reynolds Advanced.

Reynolds Advanced Materials is a Smooth-On distributer that has been around for a long time. First dealt with them in 2008 and as recently as 2018. I live in the US but imagine they'd ship internationally. How much shipping would cost is anyone's guess.
You could probably order multiples to have on hand without too much concern about shelf life. I've had a tube for over a year (unopened 3 oz. not the smaller one) and it still feels as it did when it arrived. I just squeezed the tube. Hope this helps you out...the stuff is too expensive to waste more than necessary!
