Stop giving advice on silicone dolls, if you have TPE.

They ARE NOTHING ALIKE.

What works for one, will ruin the other.

Doling out ill informed advice is not helpful. If you don't know, than shut the heck up! I have seen people suggest oil baths for silicone, and turpentine and a bunch of other crap that ruins it.

Ps. Where do you post stuff like this?

Amen to that!
Although it doesn't help that a lot of the sellers of TPE dolls also refer to their dolls as both silicone and TPE in the same ad.
They are most likely doing this so that their TPE dolls will pop up during internet searches for silicone dolls. But regardless of their reasons, it will certainly confuse the crap out of anyone who is new to dolls and doesn't know any better. :(

Finely someone said something about this.

Also when asking for advice specify TPE or Silicone.

I agree 100%. As a new doll owner this has confused the fark out of me since day one.
I wonder what the ratio of tpe vs. silicone is? Seems like it's 90% tpe on these boards.

Fortunately us silicone doll owners seem to have it pretty easy, just don't use the oils that tpe owners do. Most of the problems tpe faces we dont have to worry about! :)

It is however not always clear in the topic that the doll in question is silicone.

But I agree that when giving advice one should always be clear about if it's for TPE or silicone, just in case, but especially if in doubt about the dolls material. If not then one might just as well not say anything and avoid confusion, or simply just ask about the material before giving advice.

I am amazed though over the lack of clear and properly updated sticky-threads about maintenance for silicone and TPE that people can just easily direct such questions to. Such basics can even be mentioned in a "welcome"-message to any newly registered members. If we rely on members answering such questions the risk is always that important details are left out, or it might be mixed with outdated info, which can be just as bad. This forum is a huge mess imo.

Or perhaps ask an Admin to make it a sticky?

oh thank god someone said this. i have all the info i need for the care and maintenance for my tpe girl but am struggling to find anything current on silicon...or at least isnt conflicting with other info or possibly confused with tpe.

am still not sure what to use to glue on an eyelash. preferably something semi permanent. not asking for the answer here but have asked a little while ago and was told there was plenty of threads answering this, have looked but ended up more confused then before i started

Agreed, and it goes both ways too.

Giving advice based on what you think someone said or you read somewhere is not good advice. There are plenty of people on this forum with relevant experience, wait for them to reply.

It looks like the "Repair & Maintenance" forum is already subdivided according to material:
