Thanks again for the information and the videos. I'm not at home right now so I can't check some of the things (I left Hannah home to water the plants), but I'll check as soon as I can.

From the videos it looks like she doesn't have a gooseneck then - her head doesn't bounce back like the one shown the first video and the noise isn't the same at all when moving, although her head does wobble a little like in the second video, but I think that maybe I have the hanging adaptor still in place as discussed here - viewtopic.php?f=215&t=107960. Also her head doesn't bend to the side anywhere near as much as shown in those videos.

So I'm pretty sure it's not a gooseneck, but I know how to find out now so will check as soon as I can. I'll also feel around her collar bone and see if I can feel hinges or a smooth bar.

She definitely has the double hinged waist/lower back though and I really love that because there's just so much you can do with it pose-wise. The photo I posted earlier wouldn't have been possible without it, and I really like this one too (I've had to edit this slightly so that I don't get in trouble when I get home  )

Thanks, I'm glad you like it :) it's definitely one of my favourites, hence my avatar. I was pretty quick taking it as I was worried about her balancing in that pose for any length of time.

Well... I've had a good feel around the collar bone area and I can feel a single bar going all the way across. So I guess she doesn't have shrugging shoulders.

I'm a bit disappointed/annoyed because I specifically asked about this and my seller told me this is what I'd be getting. Not sure what can be done at this stage since I've had her a couple of months now and if nothing else I'm quite attached to her. But as photography was one of the main motivators for me it's not great to know that my options are more limited than I expected.

You are not the only one to have this happen. You could ask your vendor to take it up with the manufacturer. Both of you presumably paid for the upgrades.

shrugging shoulders is an option with them, I believe it's $75 extra.
MattUK,
You paid for this upgrade, right?
Your vendor can easily afford to refund you your money
Your vendor should have asked for proof of shrugging shoulders IMHO.
Did you even get factory photos?
And guess what, in your case, you wanted for photos.
In fact, if you really want, they should get you an entire new doll!
Best,
Jeff

Hi Mark. I will do that I think. At this stage Hannah's not going anywhere, but if I could get a refund she could at least get some new clothes out of it.

Jeff - I didn't technically pay extra, I was just told that all dolls would have this as standard now, but presumably this was factored into the price anyway. I did get factory photos, but only of the finished doll, not the skeleton.

Totally understand. That is up to you of course. Just be sure about it. They could still offer a replacement even after a few months.

Love your pictures btw. :o

An update on this. I have contacted the vendor and they have offered to get me a replacement, or a refund or other freebies to compensate. So I have to say I have no complaints about the vendor at all and I'm happy that the response was positive.

But as I said earlier, I'm not going to be getting rid of her now as she's an amazing companion and I'm able to do some great photography with her, even if she is a little less mobile than I'd hoped.

So thanks everyone for helping me get to the bottom of this and all your advice.

Mandos send me here... great thread. My Danielle arrived and I'm pretty happy with her. But I'm still unsure what her skeleton is able to do for positioning. Danielle should have the new and improved WM Skeleton including movable shoulders (at least i paid for that extra and i have an email from my vendor confirming that i have the "improved skeleton, which takes 2-3 more days production wise"). So far I wasn't able to shrug the shoulders, but i also didn't want to force it and break something. I'm also unsure If i can rotate or bend her upper body sideways. Thx to you guys, I now have a better understanding what i could try...

Never had shrugging shoulder take more time. I'm pretty sure it's standard on most Jinsan Dolls now. Factory photos of dolls I've ordered have clearly shown the shrugging ability. This is from the Jinsan Factory. Last doll I ordered was last Friday, a WM with shrugging shoulders, and she arrived one week later. Yesterday.

I'm still working on getting a blank skeleton. Jinsan says they will sell me one, but haven't figured out my price. They typically aren't around much on weekends, so possibly Sunday night I'll know more.

yeah... i'm pretty sure he used it just as false excuse why production takes longer as he promised... and great video btw.

edit: thx to the video i could finally shrug her shoulders. And i also managed to rotate the waist left and right. Still not sure about bending her upper body sideways.

Glad I could help with the shoulders. I'll see what I can do for sideways.

I just looked at the skeleton photos again and realised not only do they move up and down, but they move front to back as well. Damnit! That would have been amazing to play around with, so many options.
