Thanks for the comments and the advice on lighting
I think I will stick to photographing her in a room with more natural light

Hi Bigchilli, was it yourself who had that, how do I build Ariana Grande thread a couple of weeks back? Apologies if not. I also am trying to build a similar type of doll, you said you was initially disappointed with her size was that because she was too big or to little at first?

    It was me yes
When I opened the box she seemed tiny but after living with her, dressing her etc I no longer feel that's the case
I wouldn't want one any bigger now
Her size and shaper are perfect
There's also the weight to consider
She's not particularly heavy to carry but to position her, dress her etc is definitely hard going

I'm still looking to do an Ari doll with a separate head
The pulled back high ponytail hair is holding me up

What did you find tiny about her? The legs, waist, height? She's 5'-5" tall. That's two inches shorter than me. She'd look like a giant beside my 140cm girl.

    Everything is bigger in Texas.

Just her overall size in the box
She looked really narrow squeezed in the box
After the first 24hrs her size felt perfect though
    I do love petite women

Just to chime in - when opening the box containing the 166C/273, my first impression was "she's tiny, so small, very short and too skinny". A few minutes in, when I got her on her feet - and not at least when I attached the head (which gives extra height), she seemed tall enough for me. I am 192 cm. My previous girlfriends were all 165-170 cm, so 166 is not short. I love petite women, so her size is perfect. I've started looking at women in the street lately to compare, and it seems there is a lot of women with similar bodies. The only part of the166C that I find unrealistic is the waist. Only an inch more and it would have been OK. But the doll is sculpted so beautifully overall that I do not care. :D

Not around here. They're a bit shorter and about 75 pounds heavier! Going to WalMart is a real treat.

Well for no apparent reason in a short space of time all but 2 of Mia's fingers broke(both thumbs survived)
I don't remember any particular incident but anyway
Here's a pic of some the replacement wires
I added epoxy to the ends to hopefully limit pokes

    Image

    New wires in

Unfortunately the other hand didn't fair do well
The drill slipped when drilling out the adhesive snagging the tpe making a gash across her hand
I'm waiting on adjustable soldering iron etc so will get more pics up when I'm finished

Aw, sorry to hear about Mia’s fingers. But looks like you got the DIY urgent care in full effect. Actually a really good idea w/ those epoxy ends.

This is the one sore subject for me about dolls. Why the hell cant the manufacturers make fully articulating hands that don't break? It's really NOT that difficult to do. In fact... its already been done on childrens toys. Why do they continue to use the cheap wires that break if you sneeze, rather than use quality material? Oh well. Good luck with the repair. We all go through this menacing task. Hope she has a speedy recovery.

That's one big reason I haven't made my first purchase. I have been lurking for years now.
