Hey Arthur I once read you can use like panty hose to warm up light sources. I don't know if you have any of those soft light boxes or not but if you do perhaps something you could give a try! I want to try it out myself but I've been saving up to get a 168E so ive drawn back on clothes buying for now.

Hi Zippy81, yes I do have one soft light box but I could do with one of those reflector lights as well, I think it might work better in certain light conditions.

Great photo.
I was wondering when Shuri would do a Star Trek themed photo. She looks great. :D

Thanks djcdoll, yes I was determined to get a photo submitted into this month's 'outer space' theme and had got the Star Trek uniform recently. That pic above was actually my Mum's idea which turned out quite nice but, as I was using a print on the wall as the background I could only do it as a head shot. I will post some of the other pics I took later but as it was so bright yesterday the camera struggled to get the colour and light balanced correctly and I'm too lazy to fiddle about editing afterwards save for a bit of cropping here and there! Lighting is a bit more critical with Shuri because of her darker skin so she can either look too light or too dark, some of the better pics I took yesterday were in some shade in my back garden.

Excellent Arthur1960.
Shuri as Star Trek's Uhura reminds me more of Zoe Saldana playing her in the latest films, rather than Nichelle Nichols from the original cast.
Maybe it's the long hair? Good photos though. :D

That's a good observation there djcdoll, certainly Shuri's figure is closer to the lovely Zoe Saldana' and, as you say, her hair. Of course for the rebooted movies they have altered the look of the Star Fleet uniforms and this one is a fairly close copy of the original design. I thought I should do something like this if for no other reason, Nichelle Nichols was probably my first proper crush when I was just 8 in 1968. I can remember being mighty impressed with Start Trek when it first appeared on UK TV but it was Nichelle's Uhura that really got my attention. Such a beautiful woman with an incredible figure which gave me sleepless nights but at just 8 years old I doubt I knew why! I must have been an early developer though as I soon became fascinated be women and encouraged by my grandfather's Mayfair Calender that he had in his shed, I was determined to be another David Bailey, taking pictures of gorgeous gals with my Kodak Box Brownie! Well it didn't pan out quite like that until now when I get to live out that sixties fantasy!

I was the same Arthur1960.
Fond memories of Uhura perched on that chair at the comms desk on the bridge.
Very short uniform, gorgeous looking, exotic, great figure, legs, boots!!! .........
We didn't have women like that where I grew up!

Beautiful. Shuri will get one of my votes.

A nice effect due to the depth of focus. Focus on the Enterprise or Shuri's head. I can't decide which one I like more.

Thanks Tsall, yes I liked both versions of that shot so I posted them both! I would have loved to have been able to use a Star Trek themed back drop for this months competition but, as usual, I left it too late!

Thanks Zippy81, I would have preferred to use a space ship interior photo backdrop but I could find any for sale in the UK but they have them in China so will order one for a later time. I shall be watching out for your new gal in a Star Trek themed shoot, it's great fun and I was pleased with that particular uniform that Shuri has on as it was decent quality and not too bad a fit
