this is a summary of what was going in the doll world in the past 7th week of 2019, as far as we at Dollstudio & DS Doll Europe were concerned.
In short, it was a slow week, again.
1) Latest blog posts.
Our daily blog posts feature mostly new photo sets, showcasing dolls and heads in various configurations.
Among some other things, we have posted these new picture series during the past week:
- Piper Fantasy PI-140 body style aka ›Ariel‹ by Piper Doll
- YL Doll YL-158/L body style and ›Katrina‹ head (Jinsan no. 298)
These blog posts are mirrored on the Latest blog posts section all three Dollstudio websites. It is sorted in reverse chronological order, newest posts on top:
- Dollstudio US - http://us.dollstudio.org/blog
- Dollstudio EU - http://eu.dollstudio.org/blog
- Dollstudio DE - http://de.dollstudio.org/blog
2) Factory photos and shipped dolls.
Once again, no factory photos and no shipped dolls this week.
However, with one exception, all pending orders are now fulfilled. The last one arrived in her new home on last Tuesday.
3) CWA howto tutorials.
For Indigo's cold-welding TPE & TPR diffusion adhesive (CWA), I have posted the full set of howto repair tutorials, so you can visually compare if you need the CWA to repair certain types of injuries.
The tutorials are grouped into two sections:
Part A: Repairs without material tension:
- 1. Welding of very small incisions and small holes
- Example: Crack in the earlobe (ripped out earring)
- Example: Breakthrough of a finger wire
- 2. Welding of short incisions with small depth
- 3. Welding of short incisions with larger depth
- 4. Welding of longer incisions with small depth
- 5. Welding of longer incisions with larger depth
- Example: Crack at the top of the knee with breakthrough of the joint
Though, what we could not figure out yet is how we can get the CWA to the broad public at affordable prices.
3) Other topics.
Another rather frustrating topic are shipping rates for egress shipments from Germany. The German post increased their shipping rates by factor 2.7 recently, so the cheapest package with registered mail costs now almost 20 Euros if you have only a few packages turnover per month. This are totally ridiculous shipping costs for a 300 grams item like an insert.
The cheapest private competitor is UPS with about 25 Euros for business addresses respectively about almost 30 Euros for private (home) addresses. This creates additional challenges to offer small items like accessories - wigs or eyes - , inserts, spare parts or adapters as shipping costs come close or even exceed the item value.
