Hello everyone

Post by Gimeni »

Hi everyone, I've been lurking for some weeks now. I discovered the forum while looking for a first doll to buy. Read a bunch of stuff, some scared me a little (weight and the care needed) while some encouraged me. Ultimately, I ordered my first doll this week, the new 155 cm model from Dollhouse 168 with the Marie head. I thought I would quit lurking during the excruciating wait and participate in what feels like a great community.

Looking forward to posting pictures once she gets here !

Hello and welcome! :glou:
No matter how pretty she is, there is a guy out there somewhere who is tired of her shit!

Girlfriends are for guys who haven't found the right doll yet.

I feel much better now that I've given up hope.

Hi Gimeni,

Welcome to the forums!

I have just been through this myself with my 1st doll - that wait from placing the order to her arrival was truly excruciating!

However once she does arrive, the fun is just beginning!

Clothes shopping (especially for lingerie!) is good fun - I hate shopping for clothes for myself, but am really loving it for Adara!

I also find myself watching makeup tutorials for ideas on how to give her a makeover when the time comes.

Hope you have as much fun with yours as I do with mine.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

I already started shopping for clothes before even ordering, trying to picture the doll in different outfits. Just like you Adelea, I hate shopping for myself, I'm almost at the point of buying the same outfit 3-4 times to make it easier. But when it comes to shopping for her, I can spend a whole evening checking stuff on online thrift stores. I also never thought I would be interested in photography yet here I am looking around for some lighting equipment since my apartment is very dark.

Thanks for the tips. There seems to be an awful lot of information concerning the care of TPE that sometimes sounds like its contradicting itself. Especially when it comes cleaning the doll when you receive it. I'll stick to produces recommended in the linked guides, but from what I've gathered reading threads on the topic, the frequency is more of an art than a science.

Hi Gimeni, yes there are many perspectives on TPE care. Basically, you have to take what you think is appropriate from sources which you find sound reasonable enough. For instance, dolls can arrive with chemicals on them from the factory. Thoroughly washing a new doll seems like common sense to me. Others might think I'm wrong, and that's okay. Others like to oil immediately, and that's fine too. I probably wouldn't worry about it too much. If you think the rubber is not soft and smooth enough, then maybe add some baby oil or vaseline once in a while. Powder if she gets tacky, or when she asks for it.

The main thing is to enjoy the doll.
