The Newbies and the YL155D

Post by ravensrayne »

Hello all,

Just dropping a line to introduce ourselves, my wife and I have just ordered our first doll through Jeff at BCD.

So far I must say that Jeff has given excellent service. He has waded through several emails anchid numerous questions to help us over the humps that my wife and I struggled with.

In the end, we settled on the YL155D with heads 162 & 55 with light tan skin.

We ordered the flight case for storage & discretion and hopefully no shipping damage.

We are one week into the waiting game and trying (without much success) not to buy every outfit and wig we like!

Hopefully all will go as planned and we will have a new friend in a few weeks!

Hi and welcome to the forum, the YL155D is a great choice and although, as is often the case, she will be heavier than you think, at around 34kg it's a manageable weight and being realistically proportioned you should find suitable clothing ok. If you want to see what a YL155D looks like then check out my Monique's thread, she has the 124 head and always gets high praise when my friends and family meet her! Good luck to you both and make sure you check out the honeymoon thread for care and maintenance advice.

Thanks Arthur,
Since you have the same doll, can you offer any insight as to anything I might need to watch out for with this model? Also would you care to share the sizes that you have purchased in clothing? How well as the tpe held up while changing her? Sorry for so many questions, we are ust trying to avoid as many pitfalls as possible.

Hi again, no problem, it's always nice to share information and tips etc. Well first off, Monique is, so far, the only one of my 5 gals that had a lengthy shipping, I gather she was sitting around for some weeks in her box waiting to get over to the UK, consequently she had a little bit of shipping damage but you would never know it to look at her now. Basically her feet had been pushed upwards causing the tpe on her ankles to become squashed, luckily this is an easy fix involving placing something warm on her ankles for a few hours (I used a wheat bag heated in a microwave), she also had a nick in one of her shoulders but I've discovered a way to use superglue with such cuts on tpe that will work as long as you avoid getting any on the exposed part of the tpe, so you can use a cocktail stick and have a drop of glue on it then place it carefully inside the cut then push it together, if any glue does come out of the cut it must be wiped off immediately as it goes hard and will cause a mark on the surface. Anyway, thankfully my other gals had an easier transit. Back to Monique, the first thing that struck me was that she felt heavier then I expected. This was just under a year ago and the Jinsan factory was beginning to improve the skeleton design so she had thicker finger wires and her joints were quite tight (and still are which is perfect for photography). She still had the noisy goose neck design which I expect yours won't have as they are switching to a much quieter hinged neck system, my last 2 WM gals have it. The YL155D body is completely gorgeous, first off, her breasts look very realistic and the tpe was lovely and soft. To be honest I was stunned at just how good she looked! She has a very well endowed butt and her legs have a nice thickness, especially the calves. Of all my girls, I would say Monique has the nicest hands, they are smaller than the others but just look perfect and unlike many dolls you hear about her fingers are all completely intact and feel quite robust (but I am careful with my gals). Depending on which head you use her height will be around 5' 1" to 5' 2" so this puts her squarely in smallish normal sized ladies clothing. I have had Monique wearing dresses in size 4 or 6 and tops and trousers in either size 4, 6 or size xs. She is a little larger than Sarah, my YL148 so some size xs stuff is a little snug on her but I have had no trouble getting things to fit, bra size 30D seems to work well and underwear is size small. Shoes size is adult UK 2.5. There are lots of little tricks to dressing and undressing her and you will pick them up, just protect those fingers (slip a sock over her hands when changing clothes), don't pull things over her skin and remember powdering her body before hand makes dressing much easier. Avoid dark colours that can stain and use white body stockings and tights underneath if you want more colourful clothing. Monique seems to be wearing very well, as far as I can tell she looks as good (if not better!) as when I got her, I was cleaning her every 6 weeks then giving her a baby oil massage (great fun!) But I've extended this to every 2 months as that seems to be the current advice, there is obviously a whole lot more to cover but hopefully that's given you a few tips, do get back to me should you wish to know more.

That's excellent information! Thank you. We ordered her with the shrugging shoulders to hopefully get the best skeleton and move away from the goose neck model. I had read quite a bit about it and decided I didn't want that. We also ordered the flight case to store her in; hopefully it will cut down on shipping damage as well.
Jeff at booty call dolls has been a joy to work with so far.

Thank you, I haven't seen very many pictures of the flight cases on the Forum, so I will probably do an unboxing of sorts once it arrives

Hi again, going back to clothing size, I just checked the size of the dress that Monique is wearing in the attached pic and it's a size 6 (I had thought it was a size 4 actually!). It fits her perfectly and if anything is slightly tight across the bust. A good thing to watch for is stretchy material as you don't want anything too tight as it will leave compression marks in the tpe, they do come out in time but best to avoid when possible.

Do you have any problems with the arms while dressing her, like stress on the arm pit area? Curious if it is subject to tearing in that area. Thanks for the updated dress size.

I don't have any problems with arms but it pays to learn about the limitations of the movements of all limbs, for instance it's not advisable to raise the arms straight up above the head. If you examine your gal carefully and move the limbs carefully at first you will get a sense of things. I know some folk struggle with dressing their gal, I'm lucky in a sense that I had a career in nursing so I'm used to dressing people who can't do much for themselves (probably one of the reasons I enjoy my gals so much!). If you check out the YL Doll web site I think they have a diagram that demonstrates the safe movements that a dolls limbs can be put through, also check out a photo of the latest Jinsan factory skeleton, it helps to examine it to understand the best way to move your gal. The first time you do it you will probably find the limbs are tight but with practice it really does become second nature.

And here's a factory pic of the shrugging shoulders. Looks like she is almost ready to catch her flight home!

Love this pic! Realism, beauty, grace, and elegance. A fine photo. And she's a redhead to boot!

I have mentioned elsewhere that I love the pics of naughty naked gals (yummy), but I also really appreciate the art and effort that goes into a beautiful shot like this. Thanks for sharing!
