I just noticed today that a member who is a photographer has a camera pictured between their member title and avatar.

I want a pretty flower for mine.

I'm still a TDF Member Rank System abolitionist! Down with the rank system altogether! Up with the pretty flower!

OK, that's big game, so if I can't take down the system itself, then I am begging for at the very very least, get that rank that has been placed upon me, not because of the content of my posts/knowledge, but ONLY because of the number of posts, off of my profile thingy! It bothers me. I am willing to pay just for that! Wipe it off, as well as those diamonds, too, please. Name your price and who to pay/how to pay.

It would make a nice Christmas present! But... I haven't exactly been a good boy this year here, so there goes that angle...

If TDF were going to offer this custom service (dependent on software limitations), should it be a yearly or specific period fee ? This would be for a custom rank (pending approval by management) that would be unique to the individual or group wearing it.

Sorry N. about the number of posts. That is a system feature and cannot be turned off for individual accounts. As a matter of fact I don't think it can be turnedd off for any accounts ... but at least you have your flower

Awwww! Midiman, you are so good to me! Yes, at least I have my flower up! YES! Merry Christmas! Thanks for planting it there! It's blooming nicely! I don't know how many others will like having one on theirs, so I will enjoy it while it lasts, which probably won't be long, but at least I got my diamonds gone and flower up! Yeah! I just looked at Szalinski's, he's got one on his, and we all know what happens when he doesn't like a feature on the forum!!

Oh! Better enjoy my present for as long as it's there!

I once learnt some good advice a long time ago:

"If it aint broke, don't fix it".

paying for a name......are you joking? If TDF has a financial problem then try to find another way of raising cash. I think paying for a name is crazy.....there's no sense to it whatsoever. So the member with the most money gets a special name? What about the member who's on SS benefits and can only just afford to pay for his PC and connexion? This would make TDF financially discriminatory.

And I'm still against the God title. It's also sexist. I suggest someone in there right mind looks up the definition of God in thier dictionary.

Mine states this: Definition of God.

In the Christian and other monotheistic religeons, the unique supreme being, creator and ruler of the universe. 2) in other religeons a superhuman masculine being with power over nature and man, an object of worship. 3) A Man greatly admired especially for his fine physique or wide influence.

I advise strongly that TDF Management take out the God title and just leave it at senior member. Even Doll Guru implies you're a specialist on dolls, which myself and other members have pointed out, even if you don't own a doll, the number of posts implies to new members that you're a specialist.

I don't see the whole discriminatory thing, it would be like anything else that costs money, then. Anyone who can't afford X, it's discrimination against them? This sounds egalitarian.

You say it ain't broke, don't fix it, then go on to try to fix/change part of it with advice/suggestion. I say, tear the whole damn thing down! I'd argue "Doll Guru" is misleading to members, because I can post 2,000 posts in the music thread, and have no real knowledge about dolls, or at least DEMONSTRATE that I do, yet get the title anyways, etc. I've already brought this all up. The Doll God thing too, can be offensive to some, etc. I don't want to be a Doll GOd, because I consider the Doll Makers, doll Gods, because they are their creators. At first, when I saw Doll God in itsme's title, I thought that that was why. Tear the whole damn thing down! ABOLISH the rank system entirely, it's not necessary at all, is it? Keep the staff ones up, the media account, the photographer one, things like that, and if people want special ones, either let them have it with approval, or purchase for a certain amount with approval by admins/mods, or not have them at all.

DOWN WITH THE TDF Post RANKING SYSTEM!

But... I don't know if the system can be turned off or not.

Just have to work on the titling then?

Short posts, like a sentence get as much credit as a small treatise. The quality of the information as a ranking system is subjective, though not a bad idea. Manufacturers posts are generally the most interesting. Going to a 1,000 posts is relatively easy. But travelling from a 1,000 to 2,000 is a different story. The term "Doll God" needs changing.

I'll give you an example of discrimination. Friends Reunited tried this paying for contact thing. it didn't work. It's now free. I feel sure that if TDF becomes a paying forum, members will leave in thier droves.
I do sort of agree with you about abolishing the whole title thing although I'm not ready to put up the barricades and go to war about it. (Les Miserables)

Yes, that could happen. But this would not be paying for a membership site, just extra for special titling/imaging. But it might not even be something one would have to pay for anyways, since Doll Makers are fitting a lot of or most of the bill/cost for the forum itself instead of member donations, contributions, I think that's how it works.

I LOVE Victor Hugo! That is a masterpiece of his. I prefer the C. E. Wilbur translation of this French novel.
