How to type "view topic" in thread

I have noticed other members put a URL link to a thread on TDF and the link just shows viewtopic.php........ not the whole URL starting with http://dollforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php......

I just quoted someone who had done this, but the quote in my post showed the full URL without me changing it.

Can someone please help me (and anyone else reading this) to do it correctly

Here an example who I linked the 4woods manufacturer site:
Usually linked item: http://aidoll.4woods.jp/
Prescription: Link to the item

Linked item with name: 4woods manufacturer site
Prescription: [url=Link to the item]Your favorite text[/url]

It really depends on the link; whether it's a topic link, or a post in the thread, or a picture, or an outside link, on how it will appear.
For just a topic link, don't use the URL button if you're doing that, just post the URL. I copied the URL for this Topic from my browser's address bar, and pasted it, unaltered, below.

http://www.dollforum.com/forum/viewtopi ... 25&t=56817

If you quote this post, you should see the URL as it appears in the Address bar, unaltered, and no keywords.

That has worked in this case. What I quoted is shown as you posted, but I did the same in the post below when I quoted Obin but the full URL is shown. I didn't touch any of the quote.

Having checked the preview for this post, my link worked correctly, hooray. I don't know what happened when I quoted Obin?????

I don't know what happened when I quoted Obin?????

Obin's URL is lacking the "www". Not sure why that matters when it's quoted, but it does.
If you try quoting him again, and edit the quote to add the www, it will show up in that viewtopic format.

I thought by clicking the quote button, it would repeat the text the way the OP typed it, which is why I was confused as to why Obin's post showed the link in a different format to the quote in my post. All's good. I now know how to do it and that was what I asked for.
