Any way to filter specific sections from recent posts?

Is there any way to do any kind of custom filtering of what sections would appear in the "ALL recent posts" section? Or will I have to just use the brute force option of selecting "Recent doll posts only"?
I'd still like to get new posts from Open forum, inventors corner, buy/sell etc. but there are some sections I'd rather not see. But there are also sections that are NOT included in the "Recent doll posts only" filter that I would like to see.
