Movement range of my new Sanhui 165

Post by ErrorNull »

My girl just arrived two days ago and I'm taking in her beauty as well as her limitations - or in many instances, lack thereof. I thought it would be useful to post pics of the movement range of this gorgeous doll for inquiring minds. I took these pics today and her upper body movement.. and it's purpose is to show the boundaries. In most instances you will not be positioning your girl to these limits.

In a few days I'll have time to post another set with lower body movement range. Also, i'm no photographer and the camera on my smartphone can focus worth crap. Forgiveness in advance. **warning: lots of pics!**

It's worth noting here that it is the hinge at the neck bolt that allows the head to tilt up and down this way. It seems the hinge is located near where the vocal chords would be. It seems that the secondary hinge at the base of the neck - where it meets the shoulders - does not bend in this same direction to aid in the up/down motion of the head... resulting in the visibility of the separation/gaps. Perhaps a future model by Sanhui can introduce a forward/back movement to this hinge?

Note that creases now show in the silicone at top of shoulders. Also, you can see the bulge where the hinge is located at the armpits. To me, I feel the hinge should be a bit closer in toward the body to lessen the protrusion of the hinge at the pits. The silicone at the armpits do not seem over-stressed or about to tear. Also, the arms can technically move a bit further than 180 degrees here... to like 190 or maybe 200 degrees - as the only thing stopping is the silicone, but meh.. why do that to your girl?

The skeleton for the arm/shoulder can actually rotate further back than this as well, but you end up just stretching the silicone further.

Bending at the elbow is met with hard limits. The elbow cannot bend out further than the straight position.. and it cannot come up any closer than around 50 degrees. Unfortunately my beautiful 165 cannot touch her own shoulders.

Again, the skeleton permits movement further than 180 degrees here and the only thing stopping you is fear of damaging the silicone. At 180 degree, the silicone still looks 'stable'.

Nice pics on movement. She is a wonderful girl. The 145 has the same range of movement . Have noticed my girls ankles appear off and standing looks like it will put undo strain on her.

Note that the hinge where the skeleton bends seems not exactly at the wrist but about an inch off. Minor correction for a future model? 8)

The pics above simply shows where I feel the natural limits should be for the wrist rotation, HOWEVER.. the wrists seem to be able rotate without limits. Again, the real limit is how far you want to stretch the silicone.

The wrists can also bend further in these directions, but it gets much stiffer as to go further.

The skeleton has a hinge about an inch or two above the navel. When bending forward, the limit you see from the photo is due to the silicone starting to bunch up at the pelvis and abdomen.. so I wan unable to press further even though I tried. Arching backward is met by a hard limit.. seems like about 80 degrees or so? Not quite 90 degrees.

She doesn't look so great in that forward pose. I can see how molding the human body from like 90% silicone can be a challenge. The engineers/artists at Sanhui attempt to mimic the softness, firmness and elasticity of human skin, muscle and fat .... all using just mainly one material for the 165. Some poses just don't pan out as great as the rest. Regardless, I still say they have done a superb job on this model.

Even if the Pez dispenser neck photo doesn't look great from that angle it's good to know she can do it. (Will be nice for oral on all fours. :lol!: )
I don't know of many dolls that can look straight up like that... 8O

Thanks for these valuable pics! It would seem like a clinical evaluation of her health if it were not for the fact that her chest looks so hot in that little white number! Keep 'em coming! :D

I think George from xsdolls posted a diagram of the skeletons range of movement somewhere but I can't seem to find it...

The few times I've stood my girl I just got her legs and feet as centered and flat as possible.
I've almost got her to stand on her own. I think she can be balanced if you try.
I laid down some towels to protect her soft feet while she leaned against a wall. Noticed no ill effect to her.

Just be aware that if she tips forward her feet will tilt up and they won't go back to being flat unless you move them.
See here how my girls toes are not touching the ground?

You can see where the weight is pushing down on her ankles.

The last pick is what I noticed on mine. I' thinking of either wrapping them or some kind of ankle brace ? Just protect them.

Hey ErrorNull that was some great pictures that really show the ranges of movement in detail, Thanks a lot, I think this is going to be an awesome year for dolls, assuming that what I am hearing from doll manufacturers all happen this year. It would be so awesome if they could have some type of path to upgrade your doll without having to purchase a whole new doll. But life is what life is! And it is looking great!

Again Thanks for the wonderful pictures!

Thanks a lot for the effort and a very nicely done informative post on this lovely doll.

It is certainly great to have people bold enough to test the limits, but please be careful, you'd have scrapped a heap of other dolls armpits just by doing what you did already.

So here's to her staying unharmed and a long good time together :glou:

Kind regards.

Thanks for the warning ErrorNull, but you can never post too many pics, LOL. This is exactly what I was looking for when she first came out 3 months ago. I knew I made the right choice. Can't wait to welcome my girl home.

Congrats and enjoy her beauty,....... and flexibility............ mmmmmmm, flexibility.
