Ah, I read that wrong. I thought we were all still talking strictly about DS Doll.

Going off some really old information the dsdoll with this enhancement they're striving for the same cost head w/ body as they are now but reasonably expect to add an extra $1K to it. Since your not just plopping a head onto the body as the upper body is an integral piece to providing added articulated realism.

$7K for a head is crazy.

I've discussed the problems with the servos making too much noise in a previous thread and abandoned the idea (and no one really pitched into my thread on how to fix the problem). The first video they muted so you don't hear the sounds. But in the third video, she is talking, so they could not mute that video and that is where you hear also the servo noise. Even the rotating of the eyeballs are so loud. Perhaps that doesn't bother you, but I cannot enjoy sex if I hear all those sounds (and I don't think playing music will mask it). Until they make servos that are completely silent or near silent, I have abandoned the robotic head idea.

I'm not sure even Disney has figured this out. Or Mattel, or any toy manufacturer. You can only do so much with currently existing technology. All anyone can do is add sound dampening material but then how will that affect the aesthetic design? Even if you did that's more load on the servo and so it has to work harder, which mean more power, possibility more noise anyway, reduced movement speed, and shorter life span of the parts.

If its that bothersome who can always wear Bluetooth headphones. Those are great for sexual activity.

Maybe use pulleys like tendons and keep the servos farther away in a more insulated area like the chest or the hips??

I'm still waiting for simulated breathing .. that really adds a LOT or realism. Just the chest to move a little to simulate breathing. That would be cool. A perfectly still doll is a still a bit of a hike mentally for me.

So what's the deal with these robot dolls? Is the head available on its own and compatible with their regular full-size bodies or can it only be purchased with together with a robotic body?
Either way I'm already saving for one lol

I think the robot body/head combo will be available later. Just the robotic head is coming soon. IMO I would wait for the entire body and head so you can use the head rotation etc..
