Thanks Booblover. :)
I'd love to make them available all the time if I could. Unfortunately that would end up in another long waiting list which isn't good for anybody.

One thing I was taking a look at during my "spring break" was the possibility of having some items available on Shapeways as a DIY kit. As with everything, there would be pros and cons with this.

The biggest "pro" would be 24/7/365 availability to order.
Another big pro would be no customs fees and cheaper shipping for the EU as Shapeways ships from the Netherlands for Europe.

The biggest "con" however is that Shapeways only makes the printed parts so there would be some DIY involved. You would need to provide the hardware items (screws, nuts and magnets) and make your own lenses or purchase them separately. To make lens making easier, I also have some printed tools and jigs that could be available on Shapeways as well.

The DIY EME kit would be like a typical model airplane or car kit. You'd separate the pieces from a "tree" and paint/finish them to your liking.
"Fine Detail Plastic" is a translucent resin material that is smooth and ready to paint. The prints are high resolution (29 microns, or 0.029mm layers) so there's really no sanding needed. The eyes can be used as is, but for best results they would need to be painted and clear coated.

There's also the eyelid kit...

For eyelids, the less expensive "versatile plastic" can be used, but will need some sanding to remove layer lines.
This material being porous and having a matte texture, actually takes the 24hr makeup very nicely.
Also the Sharpie worked nicely on this material for the lash mount...

I'd be interested in knowing what y'all think about this.
I'll be opening up a Shapeways shop for the palm plates when they are ready, so if there's interest I could include these items as well.

Hey Kite thanks, I can substitute the MF41 for another color on your order if you want.
Let me know.

What sort of price would you expect them to be on shapeways?

It's nice that the eyes and eyelids could be obtained separately as well. Also, what size magnets do you use? Are they an imperial or metric size? If imperial, would it be possible to upload eyes with metric sizes?

Totally up to you. If you do swap out the other blue. But you wont hurt my feelings either way. You rock in my book. Love how you keep me updated via email.

Shapeways isn't exactly cheap so probably won't be much cost savings with the DIY kit.
These will use a ring magnet glued to the back. The pedestal can be adjusted thru the hole in the ring magnet.

For EU the magnet would be the 10mm x 2mm x 3mm hole (EP373A) here...

For U.S., you can get these at Home Depot...

I'll probably just move to metric machine screws since these are commonly available here now at HD or Lowes.

Well doesn't look like much interest in the DIY eyes, but here's a new design in the works for the eyelids (V6).

Instead of gluing the lashes on top of the lash mount, they will glue below into a small notch.
I think this will look a bit more natural - more of an implanted look. I used a photo to get the curve shape exact.

Lash installation is a little trickier with these.
I used super glue starting at the outside corner. With the outside corner set, then applied more glue to the notch and finished up the rest of the way.

A little challenging for my old eyes, but it seemed to work pretty well.

Oh! Definitely interested in these.

I would be interested in the eyes - I suspect people may be put off by having to deal with making irises themselves?

As soon as I get a chance, I'm planning on starting a thread for DIY lens making.
I think it would be fun to have a place to share tips and tricks and show our individual creations. :)
