i got my first doll back in around 2009. it was a formie from a japanese company, which i had an insert. it was really hard to have sex with the doll,may be it was my fault. but i ended up cut it up and throw it away.

I would say insert. My first doll was built in and was not so much hassle to clean (a little with carrying her to the bath/shower) and I never even used her for sex! but trying to dry a fixed vagina was a nightmare for me. Also, you have a fixed anus, so going with an insert gives you best of both worlds me thinks

I haven't received my doll yet, so I can't speak from experience, but I can tell you that I went with an insert for several reasons. Mainly because I love the way my fleshlight feels and I was concerned that if I didn't like the way a built-in felt or functioned, what do I do? I'd be out of luck. With an insert there are options, different manufacturer's inserts to try etc. I figured if worse came to worst, I could try to figure out a way to use my fleshlight insert that I already know I like.

Secondly, the thing that really makes the fleshlight AMAZING (to me) is heating it by sitting it the sink with a small stream of hot water running into the opening for 30-45 minutes. Not really feasible with a built-in.

Anyway, we'll see how it works out in practice, but that's the rationale I used to decide.

I have owned a silicone DDL with built in pussy for four years now , even with great care the internal walls of the pussy do wear , my doll has had a lot of use and the material webbing inside has started to show , if this was an insert I would just change it out , as it is she will have to be shipped back to Germany to have a new pussy fitted , for this doll it is easer to scrap the whole lot and have the skeleton remoulded , approx. cost to me is going to be about £ 1500 with shipping .
I can have a new Tpe doll for the same price as repairing my silicone
I found the built in silicone pussy to hard to enter , unless you spread her legs wide , this caused a couple of splits in the groin area
My next doll is going to be Tpe , and will have an insert
If you just want to photograph your girls go with a silicone built in
If you want to play and cuddle your girl go Tpe with an insert

Following up on my post from march: I definitely made the right choice going with an insert. I absolutely hated the stock TPE insert and found that using a fleshlight insert was much, much nicer. I would've been VERY disappointed if I had gone with built-in and likely would've maimed my doll trying to cut the vagina out so I could put an insert in there.

When ordering a doll, your vendor should ask for the insert to match the doll.
If going built in, you best ensure the TPE ball stays intact.

I'm not sure what insert Vivian had in stalled for my Vivid Doll 153 I got from her recently (Vivette) as it had a very small diameter and a rounded front end! It was almost impossible to use so, luckily, I replaced it with the WM spare insert that came with Ashaki. The vagina entrance is also a small, almost natural, opening unlike the one on Ashaki which gapes when her legs are apart somewhat! So, in my limited experience so far, different makes of dolls do look different down below. However, for photographic purposes I don't think you can tell whether a doll has an insert or not unless you really want to do legs apart shots, in which case that's that's not really photography but more like pornography!

My next lady is going to have a fixed vagina so I'll see what the difference is then!

What it really boils down to is realism versus convenience. I'm lazy and I know it, so my first two dolls have inserts. But after over a year with insert dolls, a part of me (you know which part) thought a lot about it and really wanted to try a built-in vagina. So about 6 months ago, Jeff / Booty Call Dolls helped make that happen, and I got a 108cm TPE doll with it built-in.

The experience was just like I expected. Better sex, but a lot more trouble cleaning up. I feel like inserts are a physical and emotional barrier, much like some people think of condoms. I feel like sex with this doll is just a little more intimate. More real. More satisfying. That is all psychological of course, and will be different for each person, but that is how it is for me. From a practical standpoint, inserts are also slightly more difficult to use. With the typical TPE insert design, when you try to penetrate you can hit the edge or even miss the hole entirely and slide in beside the insert. Built-in vaginas are much more natural and effortless to penetrate. Despite these benefits of the built-in vagina, I've only had sex with the new doll twice (in 6 months!). That is how much I prefer cleaning an insert.

My advice to others is to trust your instincts on this matter, but don't jump to a conclusion. Really think about what it will take to thoroughly clean a very heavy doll's tight and deep built-in orifice(s) after every sexual encounter, and whether that is worth the benefit of better realism. Don't only think about it while you are lusting over a doll, either, because that is when consequences seem far away and insignificant. Think about it when you've just had release, and you are in the same state of mind that you would be in after finishing with that doll.

One issue not mentioned is the lack of suction from the doll with a built in vs the ease of an insert. That is, perhaps an insert allows for air to escape during insertion, whereas a built in doesn't.

I can't speak to other dolls, but I've got a 110cm JMdoll (silicone with builtins) and that is definitely not an issue. Give her just the tip and press on her belly to help her push out the air. After that, she'll practically pull you in and hold on for dear life. The suction is impressive.

Again I can't speak for other dolls as this is my first. I know that JM uses really soft silicone and keeps the channels close to the surface and I'm sure that helps, but I find it no problem. Also, I've got to mention that I love the texture of JM's builtins - very impressive. I don't think I would have been as happy with inserts.

That is a great tip/impressive idea. All suction and no farting around.

Great post jonn. Realism vs convenience. For someone new to dolls, it's really difficult know which they'll prefer, but that's great advice. I've only experienced an insert, and I'm making the move to built-in, myself.

I like to sleep with my dolls , and cuddle them afterwards , having to get up and heave a heavy doll around to clean it , just spoils the mood
I will also get a spare insert for my girl , I can then have some fun in the night and in the morning , and all without leaving the comfort of my girls arms
