Re: My little corner of the forum
In current news:
Chrissy has claimed ownership of the new body, and has made it clear that this is not up for debate. She says that she's wanted standing feet for a long time now, and that the new head is better proportioned to her old body anyway. She was also tired of being stuck in bed all day/every day... and with this new body, she can wear a lot more of Jen's clothes, sooo... She wants me to start taking nice pictures of her, the way I do with Jennifer, and she wants to have pictures taken with Jen again, too.
Well... What's a guy to do? [*Click*]
In other news:
Currently learning to use a Nikon D90. I've purchased this camera, so I'll be sticking with it, and the D3100 will be going back.
(*Bonus! The auto-focus works with all of my lenses now! Yipee!)

Congrats on the new camera, lbl! I'm still struggling with the decision to buy an actual camera. It's a big investment (for me, anyway), but awesome that your current lenses work right with it.

It looks like you've already started and getting used to the new camera too.lilbitlonely wrote: sooo... She wants me to start taking nice pictures of her, the way I do with Jennifer, and she wants to have pictures taken with Jen again, too.
Nice new bod she's got there.
That's good news and mighty useful too. I rely on it a lot because my eyes are not as good as they used to be.lilbitlonely wrote:......(*Bonus! The auto-focus works with all of my lenses now! Yipee!)

I'd say you're doing pretty well with what you have... but I also wouldn't want to deter you, if you're planning to upgrade.Broven wrote:I'm still struggling with the decision to buy an actual camera...

So... Your wife is friends with a monkey, and she calls you shū shū? (*Your wife, not the monkey... if there is a monkey - I'm still a bit confused.)LaDollyVita wrote:Well if this isn't superb I'm not a monkey's best friend's husband whose nickname is the Chinese word for uncle!
Lol. Well, the girls have plenty of clothes to choose from, so maybe we'll get lucky and it will turn into a fashion war instead?scooter_ca wrote:The clothing war begin....

Re: My little corner of the forum
This is the best I could come up with during my evening of fiddling, and I'm not completely happy with the results, or the process used.
I knew this was going to be a challenge before I even started, and I wasn't disappointed in that regard.
Had to quit before the staining set in.
Any advice, tips, tricks, would be welcomed.

Re: My little corner of the forum
I have a problem with auto camera settings when I take photos of Ashaki (who’s black) and one or both of my other ladies. She either comes out too dark or they come out almost over exposed! The only way I’ve found is to shine an LED light on the dark parts of the scene like black dresses and her skin and avoid shining it on the lighter parts of the scene!
Cheers, Hollows.

Re: My little corner of the forum
I had to shine the light from below, in order to create the highlights and contrasting shadows on her dress, but that washed out her face, neck, and forearm, while also creating harsh shadows everywhere else. When I used indirect light (or light from above) the dress always turned into a black hole, but everything else looked good. The image I posted is actually a composite of two photos, each with different lighting - one for the wrinkles in her dress, the other for her skin tone, and a mix of the two for her necklace.
Although the final result did end up looking pretty good, I'd like to figure how to do this without the post work.

Re: My little corner of the forum
One thing I’ve used sometimes is a twin garage inspection light which has its own adjustable tripod. The light is really bright so I’ve either bounced it off the walls or put a sheet in front of it. It sort of gives a daylight look without the harsh shadows. However, sometimes I’ve used several lights strategically placed above, behind, below and to the sides so the shadows are reduced to a minimum. I think I used nine lights once and the photos were ok but still didn’t come out as I wanted!
If you find a way, do tell!
Cheers, Hollows.
