Well, I can only speak for myself of course but I would say it is big enough a thing.
We like our dolls to resemble real women ( most of the time) and most women in our parts of the world have more mass around the waist. A natural thing, though fashion houses would like to make you believe different.
As an antropologist I could start to talk now about cultures in which a woman definitely should have some mass to be attractive for men but I think here there are enough lovers of a bit chubby women too.
Yours truly is definitely one of them.

Actually I would call that a realistic / normal waist. Not at all "fat".

A fairly normal, lovely curvaceous figure generally...then those amazing boobs to go with it (thats how to do huge, yet natural-looking breasts).

Sadly probably too heavy for me...
