Yep.. you can test the new clothes with the TPE test piece what was included with the doll... Just place the cloth on top of the test piece and add some weight like book or something similar. Leave it there for few hours/overnight and see what happens.

People recommend washing new clothes (specially the dark ones) few times. If this doesn't help, there are some household chemicals which might make the ink stick better. Plenty of information about that in these forums too.

Finally, reaching out for some practical advice. Is baby powder a suitable replacement for the powder supplied with the dolls?

Unless you are living in very humid apartment, would go with corn starch instead. Much safer for your health.
