2018 TDF Doll Awards – 7. Best Doll Invention Nominations

This category is about new inventions that are part of or may be used with a doll (and are specifically doll related. Some examples are: robotics, AI, new skeleton features, replacement neck bolts. Tell us your favourite new doll invention and which TDF listed manufacturer or vendor is offering this. Nominations should clearly state the brand name and body name or number and head name or number of this doll.

To enter your nomination, simply reply to this thread. The first line of you post should say:

My nominee for Best New Doll Invention is: <name of the invention>, it’s available on <name or link to the website of the manufacturer/vendor>

Optional you may add why you think this is the best new doll invention.

First choice is the internal heating function found on some TPE dolls - it's a great innovation. Warms the doll up from the core to the thighs and arms in about 20 mins.

Next would have to be that inflatable silicone doll..a sole mfr. in Russia claims to make them, but I have yet to see a review from someone who has actually received one.

My nomination for Best New Doll Invention is: geared double jointed knees.

I believe the award goes to Irontech http://www.irontechdoll.com/ - there being some confusion with them having been working with SM and the effect of the joints is that the doll can kneel

Possibly the first to introduce super-realistic vaginal sculpture.

Samurai is the Master of Photography for Irontech dolls and will no doubt have some examples of the kneeling ability among his shots.

Sorry but geared double jointed knees are known for more than a decade in TDF listed dolls and as far as I know even patented by Realdoll. So not a new invention.

If they really did copy the design or neglect the patent I would give them the award for most interesting infringement I found 2018.

I'm not sure that it's a design that any other manufacturers have used in recent dolls . . .

I saw a photograph or drawing of the double hinge regulated by a gear in between and it looks nifty as well as producing this ability to kneel that other manufacturers have since copied this year.

Whilst this invention has been around in part since 2017, there are new adaptors for 2018 and ongoing work will increase the potential for any head to fit any body, so I think it qualifies!

I won’t post photos of any adaptors as there are so many varied and different ones now and any one might be favouring one over another! However, if photos are required at the poll stage maybe a selection could be used!

The Tongue and Teeth Sets from The Doll Laboratory

For dolls with open mouths these are just superb additions to anyone's doll accessories and add to the realism if photography is your thing.

My Nomination for Best Doll Invention is: Mannequin Fan Easy Move Eyes - Available from, well, Mannequin Fan...

The level of expression these simple, affordable additions add to any TPE doll is extraordinary! There is a huge selection of options for the iris colors. They're easy to install and use. I think these are the only MUST HAVE item I know of for any doll I'll ever own.

Body-language conveys a lot, and having pose-able shoulders means that our dolls can now be even more expressive, without ever saying a word.

Finally, the end of scare-crow-shoulders syndrome.

Yes - I agree and with your reasons - but one company led the way with this at least three or even four years ago . . . and I think it was their explorations into TPE dolls that let the cat out of the bag for the feature to become quite universally available. That company is represented in nominations for other categories . . .

But in principle no doubt many others will agree also that it's been an important development becoming widespread this year.

These nominations are bringing all sorts of good things to light!

I don't know which company made them first, but I didn't want that detail to prevent them from being recognized/nominated. I figured someone here with more knowledge than me could fill in the blank, if needed.
