CoverDoll Competition Winners Announced

Well, My Friends,

Midiman has informed me that the Polling module in Drupal...the content management system that runs CoverDoll, is not up to the task of handling our contests and polls. An 'undocumented feature' of the system seems to be 'random deletion of voter info'. The RealDoll Poll was working fine up until we closed it. At that point or perhaps during the transfer to the new MySQL server, it zeroed. We know the results of the voting for both contests but have no voter data ,

Midman is looking at two alternatives to use for the contests. The YaBB system used at TDC is a sure thing, and as long as people know their IP addresses, it won't even be necessary to 'register to vote'

Also he's checking on one other system that will interface with the CoverDoll site. We hope to have things resolved soon and will make a post, so all those who want to can drop back and enter .

Our apologies from CoverDoll for the inconvenience. It is hard to foresee the problems in advance, but as indicated earlier, we hope to address and have things running smoothly by the end of the year.

Again, please let me apologize for this inconvenience but rest assured the competitions will conclude as soon as possible.

After evaluating every Forum/Poll available, I have decided that the YaBB system used at TDC is the most versatile and dependable. TDC has now set up a Coverdoll Section to handle the contests. The contests will be announced and described at CoverDoll and there will be a direct link to the Polling to get your entry. This direct link, pops up a new window, so when you're done you can simply exit the window and you're back where you left CoverDoll from.

Unfortunately, there is no interface between the Drupal and the YaBB so if you don't have a static IP you can show us later to claim the prize, you should set up an account on TDC. (preferably with the same info as CoverDoll) The polling logs the member info as well as the IP.

Again a reminder that Abyss has provided us with one $500 coupon towards the purchase of a RealDoll and 5 $50 coupons towards other purchases. (These are non transferable)

The Teddy Babe Store Canada has contributed one $150 and two $50 mechandise coupons which ARE TRANSFERABLE, so they are as good as cash. If Teddy Babes and accessories are not your cup of tea you can sell them or give them to someone who does want them.

Thanks Midi for all your hard work on sorting this problem out , it really is appreciated my friend. I never guessed that running an Ezine would be so much more involved than the old CD site.

Please do get your votes back in as this is a big saving on both RealDoll and Teddy babe products. So if you were intending to buy over the next year, whether that be just accessories or a compete doll, it makes sense to vote and give yourself a chance to save some hard earn cash .

Reminder...the Teddy Babe Certificates ARE transferable so you could sell it for a saving to someone else and turn it into cash. No minimum purchases required, so a $50 certificate could get you a Siliplush insert or other accessories.

As to your other remark, Kharn, about running an eZine being SO INVOLVED... I imagine it has less to do with being an eZine and more to do with being involved with Midiman and his Karma or is that Kharna?

Congratulations, to Playtime for being the first to put his vote into the new system. The other 4 were test votes. Playtime wins an early bird prize of a $25 Teddy Babe Store Credit (Transferable). I am including 5 more Early Bird prizes as a compensation for the having to re-vote. This prize is only available to TDF members who are also registered at TDC and only posted on this thread and nowhere else.

Forgive me for not following this well. So are both contests being completely redone----or was the winner information for the Real Doll contest preserved?

I was assuming the Real Doll contest winners were to be announced this Friday (Nov. 7).

Are the moves of Coverdoll contests and polls going to be temporary or permanent?

Forgive me if these were answered before here or in another thread, but I am afraid I am confused again.

All the data was lost my friend during the server transfer, hence we need everyone to revote on both contests again. Both contests should have been concluded on the 7th of November. However due to the loss of the data we have had to extend the contests until the 15th of November. The results will be announced on the 17th of November.

The full instructions are on the first page at CoverDoll, or you can just go straight to TDC and vote. All polls and contests will be done via TDC software (as this is proven and reliable), until we can integrate a reliable data based polling system into the Druple software.

You don’t need to register at TDC to vote, however your IP address will be logged upon voting and used to identify winners. So if you have a rotating IP address, we advise you to register at TDC and use your TDF name.

As an added bonus for the inconvenience, Midi has offered the above bonus (shown in red on his post) for the first 5 voters.

Once again, sorry about this but CoverDoll is an ongoing project which we hope to fully compete by the end of this year/beginning of next year.

Most Dial-up IP's are not static so you should definitely make sure you are logged into TDC when you vote. Preferrably EVERYONE will log in as it makes live much simpler and would not be necessary to PUBLISH the winner's IP on the website which may not be something he want's to give out. So, registration DOES guarantee anonymity.

Hey guys..and gals.. Now that the CoverDoll Contest entry software has been changed everything is working fine. With 6 earlybird $25 coupons, plus 8 $50 and one $150 and one $500 there are a lot of prizes. Even $25 is a pretty good return for 5 minutes of your time and that's all it takes to enter. Entry numbers are quite low at the moment, so currently guarantees a prize to everyone who has entered so far.

I was up until 4am on the phone with Midi learning how to use Excel random number generator , which is how the winning contestants were drawn.
