I would like to know that too. I have been working on that with my doll Cameron and I'm still not satisfied with my attempts to close the wound nicely. So I'm open for suggestions to do it better a next time.

Hey all, if you go to the beginning of page 4 on this thread, DL2 posted all the items I purchased for the TPE seal up. The hot knife should work nicely. As now, will continue testing while MF makes another set for her other hand. Then I will do the reseal.

I bet Indigo's Cold weld adhesive would work pretty well too.

I just got my MF plates and finger. That's what I'm going to be using. I got Indigo's cold weld a few weeks ago for this very purpose.

Yeah I am looking for a full restore of my dear Jael ... many cuts, small tears to fix and a new set of hands. Following that thread really closely!

I found that using a heat gun is great for repairing the surface, like small tears and punctures, but doesn't seem to get to the bottom of the incision.

Now I am using this:

Got it on Amazon.

It is designed to cut and sculpt Styrofoam, so it runs cooler than a soldering iron. The small tip is perfect for punctures, and it is long enough so that you can weld the bottom of the incision as well as the top.

Instead of repairing the cut top to bottom, I work from one end of the cut to the other. That way, I can see that I have welded all of the cut from bottom to surface. Then finish off the surface with a heat gun, like in Mishka's videos.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Although this iron runs cooler than a soldering iron, it is not designed for TPE and any TPE residue on it while hot WILL SMOKE. Use lots of ventilation and keep the tip clean: before, during and after use. Turn it off when not actually using it. It heats up in seconds, so no need to have it sitting there smoking while you are working.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice.
In practice, there is.

Hey thanks for your kind words EWNJ.
I'm looking at developing some jigs that will help make the plastic finger wires quicker and easier to assemble. I've cleared it with Jeff so I may be able to make some available soon if it's feasible time wise.

For those that have 3d printers I'm planning on making the print files available here soon as well. Just need some time to get the package put together.

Nice! Would it be possible to put the files on Shapeways for those who don't have a 3D Printer??

Unfortunately I have no experience working with Shapeways.
I have a feeling it would get pretty expensive.
The parts I've designed are for FDM printing. They use a different printing method (SLS) so things may not come out the same.
Also, all the parts would need to be connected together with sprues for this type of printing.

Alright, I made some 2 sided jigs for cutting and marking the wire and positioning the plastic phalanges.
Today I will see how long it takes to make a set of finger wires with these.
