Lovepuppet intro

Post by lovepuppet »

Hi Guys. I'm new. I am a concept artist for the film industry and have sketched and sculpted and cast all manner of things, and have decided to turn my hand to dolls.
I've got a lot of ideas for incorporating innovative features in my creations and will hopefully share them here, so you can tell me if I'm going off the wall or treading on thin ice.
Once I've got enough posts I'll be able to share photos of my work(s) in progress.

I'm also interested to see what you've done. One of the main problems with dolls is their static nature. I've always been fascinated by the lifelike appearance of puppets. There is a lot of opportunity to incorporate puppetry and animatronics in dolls.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm working on a head to start with. Not really into 'reality', so her features are exaggerated. I want big eyes to match, and buying various eyes on ebay to see how they fit, but can't seem to find any larger than 2.5cm.

Welcome to the forum.

You could contact someone with a 3D printer and ask them to make a pair of big eyes for you. There are some people here on TDF that has those and sell stuff to other members. No idea how much that would cost, but still, might be worth looking into.

5 posts approved by our awesome peeps here at TDF. They are quick to validate postings. ;) Would love to see some concept art for big eyes. Would for sure give you an edge in that aspect, since the paintings were quite a big hit for a while. For a doll head, I think that would be very interesting. Feel free to pm me when you can.

Welcome aboard. The doll field is wide open for imagination, fantasy and innovation.
You mainly find std skin tone human "Barbie" dolls here although some thinner and thicker dolls are now being offered. A few vamps and devil dolls over the yrs. Elves are popular too.
Going downtown. Gonna see my gal. Gonna sing her a song. I'm gonna show her my ding dong! C&C

Welcome, puppet dude. I'm excited to see what your photos. I have experience with animatronic displays for large art installations and am hoping you and I can find a similar path for brainstorming.
