Great invention, and it looks nice too because it is closer to the color of the dolls skin, I really like that. Here is my temporary "man cave" solution, and what I did with my 90 lb Sukiwaai from Sili Doll. She came with those 6m screws which are way too small for her size/weight. For me, the biggest problem is the threads of the screw tearing her tender feet. I found some PVC bushings at hardware store and added new screws (although I could have used original screws). I also added some large washers. The object is to protect her tender feet from damage and this is a big improvement from what I had. The bushings really help a lot in preventing her delicate skin from being torn/damaged by those screw threads.

Here's a few pics of the new V3 installed. I like how the new shape prevents snags and the covers actually fit snuggly into the feet. They were very easy to install. I just heated them a bit with water and then sightly spread the openings with a screwdriver just pushing it in till I noticed a flex on each side not going so far as to deform them. Then with her laying down feet in the air using one hand to hold her foot and the thumb pad portion of my other palm to push them on. It total took maybe 2 min. Now she can stand on my hardwood and not destroy it and I haven't gotten any more scratches on her feet since putting them on :D

Thanks Billiam for the helpful review and pics!

To make things a little easier, I've added a little wedge tool in the kit for preparing the caps before installing them.

So aside from positioning your doll with the bottoms of the feet up, here are three steps for an easy install...

1
Just insert the wedge into the slot and press all the way down to flex the caps open a little.
No warming is necessary with this version.

2
Make sure you have at least 1/4" (6.5mm) screw clearance to the metal fitting in doll's foot.
If not, adjust the screw as needed before installing caps.

3
Contrary to the previous version, it helps to start these at an angle.
The cap will spread open much easier this way when pressing them on.

That's what I had to eventually do to my caps is pop them on at an angle since I had such a hard time putting them on with a screwdriver.

Wish I had that wedge tool at the time. Is this considered a version 4 or the same just with the wedge tool?

It's the same V3 cap - just added the little tool.
It's a bit easier than trying to use the screwdriver and flexes them the right amount.

You can still use the 1/4" screwdriver for removal though.
Just insert in the cap slot and twist.

Brilliant design and working as intended for me, but can't stand my doll unsupported, but this is not the intention of these, (i don't think). They certainly do the job of protecting feet and saving socks and hosiery from being ripped and laddered. Nice work and very quick delivery from across the pond, many thanks MannequinFan

Thanks Waspie for the kind words. :)
I think USPS must have put them on a rocket to get them there in only 4 days!
Some domestic shipments take longer than that!

IMO, even though it's possible with the proper balance, I don't think the doll manufacturers ever intended the screw design to be used for unsupported standing. The main purpose was to protect the TPE feet from getting damaged from the weight of the doll.
I'm not sure how/why the caps would affect the standing, but it's always best to have a third point of support when standing the doll.
If the doll falls over it could incur serious damage.

Wondering this as well, as I have a 6YE 164D with standing feet on the way... and hardwood floors I don't want to ruin.

Hey sorry folks for the absence lately.
Been working with Jeff at BCD on making some changes in the way some of my items will be available here on TDF.
The private waiting list method is just not working very well anymore.

Starting in May, the plan is to occasionally have pre-made items available in the BCD section here on TDF instead of taking orders by PM.
There will be a graphic that updates to show what is available, so you'll just have to watch the thread for what comes up.
I'll try to keep as many things available as possible, but there may be times when nothing is available. I'm just a one-man show so often times other things in my life just have to take precedent.
I'll be keeping you all informed, so just keep an eye out. :)

Thanks everyone!
MF

P.S.
I'm out of the flesh tone plastic at the moment. When I get some in I'll be making some screw covers available.
