CREATING YOUR OWN CUSTOM SILICONE NIPPLES TUTORIAL

Post by Zippy81 »

HOW TO FULLY CREATE "STAND ALONE" NIPPLES WITH PLATINUM SILICONE TUTORIAL. (INCLUDES DESIGNING, SCULPTING, MOLDING, CASTING, AND POWDER PAINTING!

As I browsed the site I was inspired to shoot this idea out there on designing your own nipples.

GATHER REFERENCE PHOTOS.:The First step is to find reference photos of the ones you like. (make sure they are fairly decent quality and clear in details if possible) Also make sure that at least one of the nipples is facing forward as you'll need this angle to create a scukpt template featuring the overall diameter and shape that the nipple has.

CREATING SCULPT ON TEMPLATE : The second step is to use a photo editing program to create a template with. ( I use photo shop) you could also simply crop the image measured in centimeters (3,4,5, etc.). You'll be placing clay on this and using it as a guide to sculpt/ copy the forward facing nipple. Then print it out on printer paper.(My example below).

SCULPTING THE NIPPLE: You only need to do one unless you're feeling adventurous!
(AS A SIDE NOTE: ISOPROPYL MYRISTATE STEP IS USED FOR OIL BASED CLAYS *SUCH AS MONSTER CLAY* (FEATURED) ONLY.

Tip: using very small sowing needles during the whirl pool step will result in very fine wrinkle details.(press semi firmly when making)

"POWDER PAINTING" YOUR NIPPLE:

UPGRADING YOUR EXISTING DOLL: THE BENEFIT OF HAVING A DOLL ALREADY IS THAT YOU CAN SCULPT THE NIPPLE AND HAVE AN IDEA OF WHAT YOU'LL END UP WITH WHILE DOING SO! RATHER THAN HAVING A TEMPLATE YOU WOULD SIMPLY SCULPT USING YOUR DOLLS BODY AND CREATE THE DESIRED LOOK USING THAT. once done follw the rest of the steps above.

*PUFFY NIPPLES*: after step 6 see texturing in above sculpting tutorials for some ideas on how to texture.

A couple of final notes:

A CURRENTLY UNTESTED TPE WORK AROUND: cut a piece of double sided tape to the exact size of the silicone nipple diameter and place it on the bottom of the nipple (perhaps it will secure and also act as a barrier between the two materials.)

A NOTE FOR CASTING THIS ADD ON NIPPLE: During the step where you pour the silicone in your mold have ready prior to that a rough sculpted nipple with areola that is roughly the same size as your dolls current nipple. Once you pour the silicone in the mold simply line up the clay sculpted nipple/areola to where you want the new cast nipple/areola to rest on top of. Then press it into the freshly poured silicone and leave it to cure. (some silicone will displace out of the mold so make sure you have mold release on the entire mold (outside included). Once the piece is cured and "painted" you should be able to slap it on your doll!

The finished piece will basically slip over your dolls existing nipple. (pictured status isn't in finished detail form, I'm just giving you an idea of what the purpose is going to be for this kind of piece.) Your piece will vary in appearance based on how far towards the nipple you decide to add detail and blend. (how much of the dolls existing areola you wish to cover.)

As for the other full areola +nipple "attachments/ covers" if you pour silicone inside the piece you sculpted (wont need release agent), you can use the cured piece to press into your casting in order to insure an exact fit.(Because you sculpted the new areola/nipple right over the dolls existing areola/nipple. (just make sure to use a release agent/vaseline on it to prohibited the freshly poured silicone that's in the mold from binding to it! [SEE BELOW FOR CLARIFICATION]

ENSURING AN EXACT FIT BY CREATING A "ROUGH COPY" INSERT OF THE INTENDED SURFACE AREA OF APPLICATION. :
casting a silicone nipple with an insert copy.jpg
20180101_095413.jpg
ALTERNATIVELY: (As stated above.) Rather than sculpting a whole new rough copy clay insert. AFTER YOUVE MADE THE MOLD OF YOUR SCULPTED NIPPLE/AREOLA. Flip it over and the exact shape and area that the dolls nipple and areola take up will already be present because you formed the rough sculpt layout right on the dolls breast. Simply pour some molding silicone inside this area and wala! a silicone insert rather than a clay insert. BUT AS STATED ABOVE: before placing this silicone insert into the poured ecoflex silicone make sure to apply vaseline/mold release to it to prevent binding.

INSERT RESULT DIFFERENCES: The silicone pour method is not only less work but more accurate in terms of mimicing your dolls nipple/areola area.

Possible solution to cast TPE versions is by using hydrocal to mold your nipple sculpt rather than silicone. It allows for a much higher temperature range during casting. And shouldn't be harmful to tpe like silicone is.

Note: You might want to either use regular gray clay to sculpt with if going this route as hydrocal does get warm whilst curing which would heat up oil based clays resulting in loss of detail.Just allow the gray clay to dry a bit then use a mold release agent on it). OR if you"'ve already made a silicone casting of your nipple simply mold that with hydrocal and you're good to go!

* ALWAYS wear proper respiratory protection when mixing hydrocal though.

It can be found on various vendor sites here are a couple:

Another (untested) alternative to create a barrier between a silicone prosthetic and the tpe might be: rubber cement? (Paint a thin layer on the back of nipple and allow to dry first perhaps.) Perhaps a tpe expert might know if it's harmful.

OR perhaps this gel glue. (Untested on tpe OR silicone) but it can be thinned with warm water resulting in a micro barrier layer.

Very informative and great job!

This will help circumvent what is the superior nipple debate!

TEMPORARY ADHESSION + BARRIER LAYER GLUE TEST RESULT FOR PLATINUM SILICONE.

Opinion: This glue seems great for creating temporary bonds for "on top of" the skin" mods as well as a sufficient barrier material to keep two different materials from touching.. (TPE SAMPLE ON THE WAY FOR TESTING)

It can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/Aleenes-Clear-Ge ... tacky+glue

TIP on DIY TOOLS: :p

If you don't want to buy a whole sculpting tool kit just to have access to a needle tool.. Go outside and get a fairly straight twig. Cut it to size. Go to the dollar store/craft store etc. and get a pack of sowing needles and with some pliars push the needles into the ends of your stick and wala!

(You can even get a pack of needles with various sizes so that you can add varied line textures during the whirlpool texturing step that range from very small to medium width. And have both the needles right on the same tool.)
