Let's Make a Merkin!

I never cared for the Barbie doll look between the legs. It's just that, I came of age in an era when most gals had a nice thick bush down below and that's what I like to see.

Now, there are a few options when it comes to adding pubic hair to TPE dolls. You can plunk down $75 to $100 for implanted pubes at the factory. Kind of pricey though and several members report they pull out rather easily. You can buy a Merkin and stick it on. Really good ones are pushing $40 to $50 though. Then there's the Mohair yarn option. Just glue up your doll's pubic region and stick it on one clump at a time.

Well, I decided to do a variation on that theme and make a Mohair Merkin. Something that wouldn't just fall off, but would be relatively easy to remove. So here's what I came up with:
What you'll need are, 2 pieces of thin cardboard, one light and one dark. Scissors, I like the curved variety like the ones shown, ordinary white glue like Elmers and some good quality Mohair yarn. You'll also need a piece of clear plastic, not shown in the picture.

The 1st step is to cut the dark piece of cardboard into the shape you'd like your doll's pubic hair to be. I like mine nice and full and to go down the sides a bit, so I cut my cardboard accordingly.

Next, trace the shape onto the lighter piece of cardboard and cut it out.

Now, take your Mohair Yard and pull off several clumps, (the fuzzy part). No need to unravel it. Just get a firm grip and pull.

Be sure to pull enough off to cover the hole you made in the templet.

Next you'll need a piece of clear plastic.

Place it underneath the cardboard templet as shown below.

Then, apply the white glue to the surface of the plastic through the hole in your templet and smooth out evenly.

Now, remove the cardboard templet and carefully press your clumps of Mohair fuzz into the glue, working from the bottom up. Be very careful not to get any glue on the top surface of the Mohair.

Continue until the entire surface is covered and gently pat down.

Very carefully position the Merkin, gently pressing in place from the bottom up.

Gently, but firmly pat down. Congratulation, your dollie now has pubes. Let dry a few hours, trim as needed then dress your doll as usual.

To remove the Merkin, all you need is warm water and a Q-tip. The Merkin being removed here has been in place just about 2 months. Notice how it is still holding firmly. Bear in mind, this doll has had a sponge bath since applying and an oil treatment. Dolls in heavy use however, will likely need my frequent re-glues and/or replacement.

There you go. Comes off in one piece and can be reattached!

Thanks. I removed that one and made another a bit less bushy the next day, which has been on for 4 months now. No peal at all.

Mr Franz Sir, thank you. Newbie in the doll scene and glad to know I'm not the only one who prefers a bit o' jungle to the slippery slope and your method seems the simplest and economical I've found so far. Kudos. I suppose you could say luckily I purchased an amazon prime wee 110cm lass I won't mind practicing and experimenting on since she was under 300. usd. I got what I paid for though. Misshaped breasts, way to large for the size doll but that does seem to be the trend in most size dolls I'm seeing (no insult to boob lovers :) ). No pigment in the hands and feet. Not sure how they could screw that up. But.... this was all before I knew about TDF and what you can get from a quality company as I research my next lady. All I knew about "dolls" were the pool liner one's from the seventies ya got for 15 dollars and gave away as gag gifts. LOL Be well Sir.

Thanks Rick. Yup's the cheapies are just that. Skimp on materials across the board. Sometimes it comes out ok, sometimes not. My gal's from WM. She's small too, just 125cm, but without the giant out of proportion boobs and skinny waist found on many smaller dolls.

Her little fuzz pie is still attached, going on 8 months now with no signs of lift or peel. My doll's just used for photography though and dress-up.

Well Sir. Jyoti is absolutely gorgeous. And Suzy's not so bad herself but couldn't imagine trying to move her around. I swing bags of cement around and it's easier than moving the wee 30# lass I have now. And yeah I learned ya get what ya pay for. Again thanks for the great method.

Thanks, Jyoti's a real charmer. She's just under 50lbs, which is a lot for me, but since she's short, it's easy enough to lift her up under the arms. Suzy's a lot bigger, but being a fiberglass and plastic mannequin, she's quite light and easy to maneuver.

Weird thought: glueing own public hair to doll

I'm rather bushy so I think of processing my own public hair then attaching it on my TPE doll.

I'm old school and I like hair down there too. I just take hair from the brush after brushing whatever wig she's wearing, put a bunch of the hair between my palms, roll it around to bunch it together, shape it and stick it in place with a little honey rubbed on her for glue. Put panties on her over night and it will be stuck pretty good the next day. Easy to take off and clean with warm water. I'm going to try some elmers glue next time. ImageImage
