Toronto recently had its annual Pride Parade which was attended by over 1 million people.
Would love to see Tom there, leading the parade in his own little float.

We have seen previous tear's Toronto Pride on You Tube; very impressed. We understand Toronto is a diverse and inclusive city. London Pride is on the 6th. We have registered to take part. ( Had to register in April; fully booked by the end of the month. ) Steve took part on his own last year.

Hopefully this year they will let Tom in; there are no Xray machines there. If they freak out and don't allow him we will go to gay village instead; Tom has not been there before.

PRIDE

July 7, 2019 was Pride In London Day. I took part in last year London Pride with NHS group, my previous organisation. This year Tom was joining me so we registered with Pride In London Individuals group. This year also coincided with the 50th anniversary of Stonewall uprising that spearheaded the LGBT rights movements around the world. I was worried that the event organisers might freak out and refuse Tom so we had plan B: if that happened we would go to gay village instead. The train to London was loaded with revellers; all seats were occupied with many people standing. To try our luck we walked from the last carriage right up to the buffet carriage. All eyes were on us and we felt like being in a fashion catwalk show. At one point a man shouted from his seat, "Hey, action man !" I greeted him as Tom, "Hello, hello", and he was delighted. I thought that we had to stand all the way but thankfully a passenger got off at next stop.

At the gathering point Tom was let into the parade with no fuss albeit without a wrist band. We arrived early so we mingled with other Pride participants. Like last year there were costumes of every imagination and many colourfully decorated floats. To prevent Tom's delicate flag from being crushed by the crowd I lifted him up above my head as we navigated the sea of people. That made him very obvious. Many revellers smiled at him and some asked to take pictures of him and with him. A few even included me in their shots. One had picture of him kissing Tom's bums. I was relieved. Before leaving for London I was a bit worried if people would react negatively to Tom.

When the parade began some people danced around as they walked. I continued to lift Tom up above my head to prevent him from being knocked down by the jovial crowd. That made him obvious to spectators too; many smiled, some greeted him and some took photos of him. I took many selfies of us. On seeing this, at one stop, a nice young woman in the parade offered to take our photo for us. At another stop, an announcer among the spectators said to me, "I hope he's not your partner, is he?" I replied, "Yes, yes. He is !" Along the way, a few people in the parade came up to us to take picture of Tom or with him. I thought what a popular guy Tom was.

It was a beautiful day. The weather was cloudy and not too hot like the week before. People in the parade and among the jam packed onlookers were equally cheerful and enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

To me this is more than Gay Pride. This is Pride in my life with Tom, in how far we have come. This is Pride in living my life authentically without fear, shame, guilt and apology. This is also Pride in Tom who has proved to be popular with so many people. I cannot wait for the next year Pride.

Oh my gosh what fun and what a relief! I know it was bearing on your mind, but what a wonderful outcome! I know when CinnamonLover took me trucking with him he was worried it would be too rough-and-tumble a crowd for a serious sprite like me, but I was a hit! So many of the gigantic, tough looking truckers thought I was cool! Nobody tried to muss CL around, or give him a hard time, so it worked out! I wonder if the feeling was similar.

So neat to have a few events to look forward to each year! We get so excited when there is a meet-up to go to.

HEY! Be careful showing off Tom's butt so much! People might stop looking at mine!
