Taming wild hair ?

Post by adelea »

I've had this head a while, but didnt have a decent colour matched body - but a S25B arrived today, and it looks good on it (I think)!

The only problem is, the hair is quite curly and I dont know what I can do about it:

Is it possible to straighten? Brushing doesnt seem to help.

Is she wearing a wig, or is her hair stitched in? If she is wearing a wig, there are lots of websites that sells wigs.

I have never seen changeable hair for these 1/6 scale dolls.

Not sure how it would work - all the heads I have, the hair is all molded in place, I cant see how it can be taken off.

Doll wig is an option, but the existing hair would have to be removed or cut off. There's also re-root kits available. Personally, I'd just tie it back. That's what I do with my littles. Actually though, I think she looks great as is!

Here's a doll wig seller on eBay.

Wet combing.
I know, this is normally never recommended.

I always wash the hair of my minis the first time.
While i did it with Lisa and Klara i found out that it worked.
Also i cut the edges a bit. Yes, being a mini-coiffeur can be fun ;)
And they were thankful about it :)

You have to be very careful though.
Hold together the head tightly while combing.
Works best with head 'unmounted'.
Then let the hair dry. It will already be a bit better after the first time.
But then when you dry-comb the hair, the curls may come back but not that heavy.

Do you just wash with water, or add some shampoo or soap ?

A bit of shampoo. Actually a softener is sufficient, to. You can try both.
Well, the smell doesn't last long, but it is nice.

I thought the trick was to get conditioner soaked in. Shampoo shouldn't be used unless the hair needs cleaning from dirt/oil.

Softener / conditioner, yes. But some shampoos are both.

I'll give the shampoo and conditioner a try.
Another option is a ponytail.
I use colourful ribbon in a three knot ponytail.

Thanks,

Try some hair detangler spray to wet down the frizz. I would they try a finger brushing and trim some of the wild frizz off.
Don't use a brush or comb it will just make more of a mess.

One of my silkstone barbies has very curly hair. I have washed it and it came back with a lot primping and fussing with just my fingers.
