list of small doll companies ... updated Nov 18,2012

Post by komugi »

updated Nov 18, 2012 with info provided by ibella 8)

*********************************************************

ok, I can probably be considered certifiably insane ... and I can already hear the checkbooks and credit cards cringing in fear as people start exploring this list but hey ... they are dolls ... and we both love and admire them

the only criteria I stuck with as I did the list, was that I avoided any of the dolls designed for sex ... which means I left out Virgin Rose Dolls and any others like them ... and I tried to avoid any of the obvious "toys", so no Barbie or G.I. Joe

other than that if they were bjd's, "small" (48" and under), or some form of "collectable" ... I included them I did notice that some companies I used to know about are gone, like Domuya, Limwa, and others

****************************************************************************

I did a sort by doll types (as suggested by Szalinski), and consolidated info that showed up later in the thread ... I also added some info at the end of the list ... after all, our dolls DO like to have nice accessories to play with, just like us

and LOL ... I havent even posted lists yet of things like working 1/3 scale tanks (do your dolls want their own to terrorize the neighborhood dogs  ) ... or working 1/3 scale aircraft (any wannabe Red Barons out there  ) ... or 1/3 scale cars (any of your girls want her OWN car :?:   )

Cool gonna check those links, maybe I find some dolls I dunno.

Edit: http://www.kazekidz.com/index.html I only found out about these ones a few weeks ago, very beautiful dolls she makes. Not easy to find these dolls. Pre order for new ones with rather long wait.

that's cool :)

that I have noticed, the pre-order with a long wait seems to be common with the rarer dolls, especially the special "artist" dolls, they tend to be very limited production runs, sometimes only done once or twice a year

the KazeKids are VERY popular on the bjd forum I belong to

Interesting list- thanks for posting it.

Looking through the links, one common trait is the sad look of many of them, which turns me off a bit. I'm a collector of small dolls, but mostly what you would consider "toys". Don't know, they just seem to appeal to me more. I really like the Monster High line & have pretty much all of them, but also have some collectable Barbie's & Basics- Moxie Teenz too.

I do have a handful of higher level ones- 5 Ellowyne's, 2 Tonner's, & an Evangeline, plus one Pullip. They've really got to appeal to me though to spend that kind of money on one. I do like the Iplehouse's, but could never bring myself to spend so much on one doll. :(

I guess I should be thankful that these more expensive lines don't appeal to me as much, or I'd prob. be broke by now.

everyone has their own preferences :)

as for the "sad" looks, yeah a lot of them really seem to be, that is why I chose the girl I did, her "quiet" smile grabbed hold of my heart and told me I belonged to Her ... and I'm happy that way :D :D :D

and as for the "broke" comment ... LOL boy aint THAT the truth

I'm not sure which is worse ... one "full sized doll" at anywhere from $2000 - $8000+ .......... or getting hooked on these smaller dolls and all the accessories that you can get for them 8O

I'm kind of glad my girl does not want to share me ... it is just her and me ... so I only have her to buy things for (and she likes it that way  )

If I get the time, I'll add a couple of other ones... but hell, that'll do for starters!

a very good question ... and to be honest, I dont know

I have dealt with Iplehouse and they are very good ... and from what I have heard over the past few years, all of the well established companies ... Volks, Dollmore, IH, Pipos, Wilde Imagination, etc, are all very good reputable companies

and some of the "artist" companies seem to be good to deal with ... I have never heard any complaints about Robert Tonner (who also designs dolls for Wilde Imagination) ... and on the bjd forum I am a member of the Lillycat Cerise dolls, Marbled Halls dolls, and the KazeKids dolls are all very popular so I am assuming that those artists are good to deal with

as for some of the little companies, it's hard to say

if one of the mods want to make this a sticky it could also turn into a feedback thread about any of the companies that are not good businesses to deal with
Mac Workz wrote: whay about a list of small sex dolls/ Is there one somewhere?
yes ... it was done in another thread ... all you have to do is add Virgin Rose Dolls to the list because their doll is only 82.55cm and that was less than the 100-150cm size range that the thread was about

another one I had missed in the initial list

Secret Loft Designs ... http://www.secretloftdesigns.com/

as a side note ... some time back she had designed a 1/3 scale horse figure (SLD Nahar) designed for the 60cm and larger figures ... and was getting it made by this company http://resinsbyrandy.com/resintoc.html

I looked over her website and it looks as though the horse figure might still be available by special order, and possibly you can order it direct from resinsbyrandy

I have no idea what other scale horse figures are available from resinsbyrandy, but there is a bunch of them shown on that site

Most of those companies are confirmed reliable as they are listed on the Den of Angels compendium of shops and there are lots of people on the forums that post about them there.

Companies have to go through a process to be registered with DOA. That's not to say that companies don't go bad from time to time though.

DOA is down right now... but here are links to their Dealer Shop links and Shopping Links pages:
http://www.denofangels.com/doawiki/inde ... ps/dealers
http://www.denofangels.com/doawiki/inde ... ping_links

Pretty sure people can see those pages without having to be a member.

thank you for the feedback, and the info 8)

and yes ... I tried both links you listed and both worked ... so you are correct, they do work even if you are not a member

I glanced through the list of doll makers and it looked like there were some that I did not have ... so that is great for anyone looking for different dolls 8)
