Yes and they are really nice if you get the right head. That's the trick... Either that or you have to repaint the head yourself.

I have friends on FB who craft their own figures from re-rooting hair to repaints...

Bab's heads tend to be a little larger. There is a technique to shrink them, but I think with that body It'd work as is. Hmmmmm, wonder what Lia would look like with a new body......

:haha4: Trust you to go for the large bust version Lone! She looks good with that head on though!

Ashaki introduced Coco (reborn) in the ‘So What’s New’ thread in Dolls Alive!

I wanted a new body for Coco the Barbie Doll I had as she doesn’t have fully articulated limbs (only arms). She is a Jiaou Doll 3.0 medium bust which took me two days to stain so I think she’s the first black female seamless here!

I haven’t had time to finish her properly yet as it’s taken ages for the chemical smell of the stains and washing fluids to evaporate!

By the way Jiaou Doll sold this one as ‘black skin’! Don’t be fooled by that as it’s an insipid beige colour that no heads I have would match! I would go for any of the other colours if you’re thinking about one! However, Barbies do have different colours to the seamless dolls so choosing a match for a particular Barbie head might be difficult! Also, obviously the Barbie heads are soft compared to the sixth scale heads on the market which are solid. This means you have to adapt how the head goes on and stays stable. I’ve used plastic tubing pushed over the ball of the neck joint at the right length to keep it in place.

Cheers, Hollows.

:haha4: Well, Coco is a Jiaou Doll but the ‘skin’ is similar so, yes, it is possible to colour them! I didn’t use paint though but wood stains and fabric dyes! Obviously some colours take better than others and there was a lot of trial and error in the process. The red stain seemed to be the strongest even though I only used a little so after the first wash down with white spirit she was far too red and I thought I’d ruined her! However, I persevered and the result was close to what I wanted to match the Barbie head.

The idea came mainly because clothing with strong stains and dyes can sometimes stain both silicone, TPE and, as Lone found out the hard way, even Phicens, so why not use that process to stain the whole doll?

Cheers, Hollows.

I wonder how it would go dunking her in a very strong cup of coffee, that might give a nice colour..
I know it worked with an insert I left by my coffee machine that leaked..

It might do but you’d have to use strong coffee! One of my options was to use cocoa powder which I did use for finishing touches as it was a similar colour to the head. Mind you, I tried a little cocoa powder on Ashaki once instead of powder and it was awful! Wrong colour completely!

What you need to decide is what colour you’re aiming for as the finished body colour and this will depend on what colour head you have! There’s no point in just staining a body if you haven’t got a head that matches!

As I said before, clothes stain the various ‘skins’ of different materials so maybe you can test the colour on something like an insert but the colour may not come out the same on the body!

What I didn’t mention is that the hands didn’t stain at all and I temporarily used permanent markers to darken them. That’s a job I’ll get round to sometime soon as they look terrible at the moment!

Cheers, Hollows.

It has been in the high 80's the past week. We have had to turn the air on at night. The pool is actually warm enough to swim in. Like I say, we get 3 seasons! Fall, Spring (right now!) and Hell (coming soon!)...

Her name is Alice and she is a Pooka...

The púca ( Irish for spirit/ghost ), pooka , phouka , phooka , phooca , puca or púka is primarily a creature of Celtic folklore . [1] Considered to be bringers both of good and bad fortune, they could either help or hinder. The Púca can have dark or white fur or hair.

Unseen by all but the animals and a few sensitive to more then the limited reality they live in, Alice is basically a good spirit. But be-sure there is a mischievous side to her also!!
