Thumb gave out on my WM 166.

Post by Dolllover2019 »

I never really touch her hands and fingers, They are always in a resting position on her thighs while she is laying down.
Yesterday I touched her right hand and the thumb and skeletal bone that goes up the wrist is completely severed, So her thumb is just floppy now, cant position.
I know this is not a serious damage or defect and I can live with it, just thought I bring it to you guys attention.
Strange how it happened since I don't move her fingers much at all. There's a clicking feeling and sound when I move her thumb. Sounds like something snapped. Darn.

The fragility of their fingers is a big frustration for me. I do often pose Anna's hands, and though I try to be as careful and gentle as possible, she now has more broken finger wires than unbroken. It's extremely annoying.
MannequinFan has been working on a replacement finger wire system. It looks promising. I purchased the parts and will be doing to upgrade next month. I'm hopeful it will make her fingers much more robust.

Sorry to hear that...
I am pretty sure it broke at the weld where it attaches to the hand plate.

Yeah mostly all TPE doll manufacturers have this issue. This is REALLY frustrating that they did not fixed that well known problem for years! We are not asking for a full skeleton hands ...which would raise the price like crazy ... but at least a new fixation system between the finger wire and the hand plate. Those fingers ALWAYS end up getting detached from the plate. Using those or not ...

Sorry to hear that happened but this has been always been an issue with TPE fingers... Generally, for myself I wait for at least 2 or more fingers to break before I go in for reconstructive hand surgery and replacing the cooper a bit thicker stranded wire with shrink tubing on the ends to prevent finger pokes

It's been my 'bone' of contention ever since i got Ami. I am working towards a solution when i can be bothered, As are others, Mannequin Fan to name but one.

Sorry but this is inevitable with the current finger wire design due to metal fatigue in the wires. This design is essentially unchanged from the earliest days of solid (silicone) dolls and shows no sign of being updated. For this reason I requested no finger wires on my newest doll and will continue to do so until an improved design is forthcoming.

Its sad you lay out all this cash and things like this happens. Its not like replacing a car part that just bolt on and your done. No its cutting into the item and hope you can seam it back together after its done.

Sorry bud. Material blends, body shapes, gel implants, hair implants, and all other kind of upgrades and innovations are being made , but for some reason nothing with the hands, idk why not, if you put the issues of vaginal and anal tearing to the side, finger pokes and breaks are the leading complaint amongst the majority of doll owners, hopefully someone takes the lead on fixing this issue.

Yup, just as the others have said. Only problem I've ever had with my WM in well over a year. Everything else is fine, but those damned finger wires and the thumbs were the 1st to go!! :shakefist:

My doll's finger wires have detached from palm plates also and besides the floppyness it's a bit annoying when fingers are pointing in awkward directions and it's difficult to straighten them out because crooked wire just spins inside the finger. I have thought about surgery to see what's inside her hands but I don't like scars that much.

Same as mine. She had a fall onto her side, and one finger broke. I thought "Okay, that's just one, the others are still fine." But even though there were no more blows, the other three fingers still came loose.
