Heating pad disaster! Help!

I'm fairly new to this- have only had my first doll about two months now.
I read somewhere here that if you take a heating pad apart and expose the wires, the wires can be inserted and used as a hole warmer. I tried it and it works great! Yesterday as an experiment, I left the wires inside and around the doll longer than I had before- hoping for a more "complete" warming job. I even threw a blanket over the doll and kind of wrapped her up with the heating pad. I unwrapped everything about 90 minutes later and to my horror saw that I had burned/ melted "grill marks" into the doll! (kinda look like stretch marks) Disaster!
I have no idea how to fix this without making it worse. I have used the soldering iron- repair method around her taint- limited success...
Any ideas???

Dude- Sorry to see that- I have no idea, However its good to know what happens when you do this-
mabe someone else will know or has dealt with melts like this.
I wrap my girl in heating blanket - but really wrap her- (mummy style) and then cover her with more blankets- takes 20 minutes, and she is nice and warm (surface)

Now she looks human!
Any new heating device needs to be watched the first few times till you create a system that works and doesn't damage.

Where did you get that pic of my ex-wife's ass? LOL!

Sorry man, just couldn't resist! :D
Seriously though, I feel for you. Unfortunately with dolls it seems that many in this community have learned through trial by fire (no pun intended) By sharing these experiences on TDF, we all learn and if there's any good to come from it, you've helped the next person from committing the same error. If you are unable to repair her or live with her condition, there are some who will purchased damaged dolls for various projects. At least you could recoup a portion of the money you spent on her if you find a buyer willing to take her off your hands. In the end i suppose its not unlike real women... in the end its all live and learn. :?

I was thinking the same thing. Not so bad. Could be worse.

Thanks all. I'll give those two a shout. Now I'm glad I started with an inexpensive ($525) doll. If I had done this to a doll worth thousands, I would be far more upset. It's a bummer, but like someone said, could have been worse. I could have melted her face off... ( I guess then I would just buy a new head...) Can't do that with real women!!!

....and the moral of the story is TPE and unregualted heating appliances, is not a thing!

You can also try some kettle water onto a contaner to soak her in to help the tpe creases and deformalities normalise, but do not have her sitting on her wight in the container as this will form the new tpe shape otherwise, where, as the goal is to let the tpe return to its normal shape.

Again....this goes back to vendors educating people new to the world of dolls!!!!!!!!!
BCD

. One vendor name kept coming up as being great at helping customers walk through the process, Booty Call Dolls. So I decided I would work with them on this first purchase, and did.

You could not of found a better person to help you with your first doll. Jeff /Booty call dolls, knows his stuff... One of the few members that is a vendor and a real lover of dolls. He owns quite a few dolls, and really understands the love we all share.

Not all tpe is created equal. In terms of durability you get what you pay for. You may be able to repair this with non textured cloth soaked in hot water applied to small areas at a time. Massage gently.

Heating pads and electric blankets have their hazards. I have woken with blisters from an electric blanket before. putting the doll into a sleeping bag and putting the electric pad outside of it takes a little longer but prevents melting like this.
