Anyone know the size of the hex bolts on the new JY skeleton that tighten the neck?

Are you after the Tool size for the external section of the nut (both 15mm and 17mm nuts are used dependent on doll size), or the thread size for the nut replacement (M12 x 1.5) ?

No worries, that is off the 2016 and 2017 chassis, ca not comment on the post oct 2017 chassis. I do not have that information, and I do believe, JY may have been looking at chamging component suppliers, hence the issues they are having with neck bolt tightness on some newer models.

Lower quality fasteners means less accuracy of tolerence. This means that a lower quality fasterner combination, will not hold tightness as well as the high quality fine tolerence thread cut fasteners as there is less torsional friction force on the thread wedge helix areas. Just for info.

If the fasteners are the cheaper kind now, they can fix the problem using PTFE (teflon) thread tape or loctite threadlocker.

I was able to put your info to good use and tighten the offending bolt (down through the neck, no surgery necessary -- except for cutting the seal membrane.) Her neck can now support a head!

This may be off-topic, but you are so knowledgeable I would like to tap into your database and ask one more question: the same JY doll in question has a loose forearm. On Sandro's site I saw good photos of this doll's skeleton which showed a non-joint type connection between the wrist and the elbow. This connection has become somewhat loose and makes the arm a little bit wobbly. Have you ever dealt with this issue? Do you know to repair it, surgically or otherwise? Thanks for any help you can give.

Sorry for the interruption, but this is an opportune time for me encourage members to insist manufacturers to build or accept skeletons that only use locknuts. Why should we accept anything else?

This will depend on which version of the chassis your doll has.

Even when we consider year of manufacture there can be varience in the chassis dependend on being a premium export vs a local market less expensive build option.

Off memory I think the JY wrist hinge uses an Allen key bolt with a hemispherical head like this.

I think it is a M10 X 1.5 thread, but unsure of the hex drive needed, but this may help http://www.meadinfo.org/2010/10/allen-k ... sions.html

Samara has done a wrist clinic post here for TPE dolls, and the hinged wrists are generally generic between makers, die to common component suppliers.

Yes, Nylock nuts would assist . So would intergration of spring washers as well.

The issue I'm experiencing is on the non-hinged joint in the forearm. See pic below. The doll--a JY148 made in October of this year--has a slightly wobbly forearm and when I press the TPE in the affected area I can feel this area is loose.
