Madisons first bath has become a nightmare

Post by demi101 »

I decided to give my doll her first bath. I ran a tub luke warm water, bought some bodywash (suave) and started cleaning her off. I washed her off and took her to bedroom laid her on a soft towel and let her dry a couple hours. I came back to check on her and now her skin is turning dark color, she has this like slime on her. It is grey and won't come off. I think maybe the powder from factory or something.

HOW DO I GET IT OFF?! OMG! Did I ruined her?

It sounds like it's factory residue still on her. She probably needs to be washed again, though I don't think you should be submerging her in a tub of water. Instead, use a spray bottle with soapy water and a microfiber cloth - being very gentle with the cloth. Rinse with clear water (I use a separate spray bottle for that). It may take a couple more washes to get her really clean.

This is what I did. Your milage may vary. :) Good luck!

I'll give that a go. I have a spray bottle and the microfiber (rips her panties up) :) would dish soap work better?

No, don't use dish soap. It's not good for them. Regular liquid hand soap mixed with water is best, I think

I've been known before to say to people that putting a doll in a bath is . . . not a good idea, and unnecessary.

Perhaps it's talc.

Best wishes

Oil her and wipe that off with a wetwipe.
When one wipe gets dirty on both sides throw it away and use a clean one. Never submerge your doll in water.

I didn't submerge completely at least. I knew not to get neck wet.

I have Johnsons baby oil and powder. Vaseline also.

Clorox disinfecting wipes ok? I haven't used them yet so just checking before I do.

Just be clear, she is TPE JY doll.

I'd just follow what Samara says. Oil her, and wipe it of. Continue this until shes clean.

Dish Soap works, but will degrade the natural oils in the doll. Still, baby oil get them the cleanest.

Don't let it soak in. Rub it in and wipe it off.

I would focus on removing the powder residue first.

By rights the TPE dollies should not need oiling in the first month or so, unless you live in the Sahara, as they would still be full of oils from manufacture.

Avoid overoiling, and if you must oil, make it a very light coat, and use vaseline on the crotch, arempits , butt crack and if she has huge boobs, on the sides of her boobs under the armpits, the top of her chest and clevage (especially if she will be stored standing).

It is most important to get all the powder of before oiling to avoid gummy residue.

The only thing that removed the residue was baby oil. I rubbed the area a little and wiped it off. The doll is now completely cleaned (except the feet and hands still have a little dark color)

I want to thank you all for helping. I was beginning to panic as nothing was helping the situation and was at one point going to box her up and take her to the dumpster and swear off dolls. If it wasn't for this board I probably would have done that so I am very very grateful for your assistance.
