We here at the ranch are sad today getting this news. John was a dear man indeed! I loved our many conversations over the years. I always looked forward to seeing him at the meets! His pioneer spirit of the doll world will live on! Thanks John! May you Rest In Peace!

My condoleances to us all for the passing of our forum family member deerman, also known as John.

Deer John,
I am truly sorry you have not been able to meet my ScoonimDoll Stellai in person. I know all three of us very much hoped for this to happen. I am truly sorry Stellai and I did not attend the UK meeting the year you did, as it turns out that there will be no second chance.

Thank you for your many elevating and enthusiastic comments to Stellai's blogs in CoverDoll.
Rest in peace.

Koen

While following an old forum trail for an unrelated reason I happened across this wonderful exchange between John and another well loved person whom many of you likely remember fondly. They were discussing the topic of forum members who come and go. It was originally posted circa 2013. Notice how well this captures the sentiment and encouragement John offered so many doll lovers over the years.

Excellent point deerman, it is all about passion and having fun! [...]

Today is our friend deerman's birthday. He would have been 75.

He always posted on everyone else's birthdays.
So on his birthday, this topic can make another round in case anyone missed it.

Absolutely. As far as a general outlook on life, John and Papa Bear were cut from the same cloth and those posts sum it up well.
A couple of great guys you'd want to know.

Happy Birthday John, we will miss you.

I didn't see this at the time but his passing is a great loss to the doll community. He was taking toy people to places that even real people can only dream about and presenting images of paradise. May he be there.

One shoot I particularly remember was in a boat on a lake. The lengths to which he must have gone to have done that shoot would have been extraordinary. His sort of photography is that which has inspired some members but in particularly Samurai who has recently done a shoot of a mermaid in one of the Scottish lochs. This is the legacy that Deerman inspired and I hope more will follow.

Perhaps anyone with a knowledge of his work might possibly compile a list of links, as it's well worth preserving beyond his physical presence.

Best wishes

Memorial Service for deerman

Post by havefun »

I was able to go to the memorial service for deerman. It was a really nice service. I got to meet his family. The family wants to thank TDF for the flowers that where sent on the forums behalf. I will be helping the family with anything they need done with his dolls. The family is very happy he has so many friends here. And are happy to here everyone who know him liked him very much.

Miss you very much John ( deerman)!!!!!!
