Here's a short video recounting a dialogue between a doll, Cindy, and Hadaly, the "andreide" (android) from Villiers de L'Isle-Adam's novel "L'Eve Future". Hadaly was made by old American genius Professor Edison, to come to the rescue of his young English friend, Lord Ewald, who was totally depressed by his aesthetically beautiful but sparrow-brained fiancée Alicia...

Hadaly, who was conceived with Alicia's beauty, who Pr Edison added great intelligence and sensitivity, quickly seduced Lord Ewald, who fell in love with her and wanted to take her home.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck on the voyage from America to England...

This story has an obvious connection on the situation of modern lovedolls and the rejection they and their DOs sometimes suffer.
