Suggestion: toe upgrade
There's a cheap and easy little upgrade that can be made to the toes, which is this - use some flexible plastic curved tube connected to the end of the metal plate at the foot by strings or wires or something, inside the silicone skin.
Those would make the toes a little more substantial, and the curvature of the tube would give the toes a natural slight downward curl. And since you're using a flexible plastic you aren't making the toe more brittle.
What we get out of this is that shoes become easier to put on, and feet look much better in open-toed shoes.
Open to reactions and criticisms.

Re: Suggestion: toe upgrade
What scares me about articulated toes is you're looking at some VERY thin metal "bones," and those will break.
It would be kinda cool to have them articulated at the foot joint, but you'd only really see that with high heels and that joint would be more or less THE pressure point where the whole body weight would press. I don't think it would function or hold up.
This solution gives just enough structure for realism, without (1) adding a lot of cost or (2) making the doll more delicate. If I wasn't so down on my Sil-Poxy skills I might give one of my dolls a shot as the prototype.
