Re: In a Forest of Tiny Minxes
Of course! *wink wink*
There’s a great example of why I call her Cedar. Those trees have the best curves!
Council of Tiny Immortals
It was such a beautiful morning… I couldn’t resist trying to shoot a little gif of cedar… but that’s how I almost fell in the water!
Sigh… she’s so distracting. Who cares about personal safety, right??? Fortunately, I smartened up and was satisfied with what I got. It’s always when you think it could be “just a little better”… that’s when the trouble starts!
Thanks for stopping by everyone!

Little nymphs, big questions...
Hooman's life must seem so complicated to them...

Re: In a Forest of Tiny Minxes
Well it’s certainly complicated to me. I just wish it’d all stop rearranging itself!
Frankly, I think these Tiny Immortals enjoy tinkering with us Hoomans!
Bright Future Bonus!
Here’s an alternate shot of my Luv in the goldenrods.
The goldenrod flowers dominate the meadows right now… as usual for this time of year. I’ve always admired these flowers. They provide critical late-season sustenance for so many nectar-eating creatures… including the migrating Monarch butterflies.
Monarchs are creatures woven deeply into my personal story. They were my father’s favorite “animal” by far, and every year, our family would participate in their cycles of life. We grew milkweed… the plant their caterpillars feed on… raised the butterflies and went and viewed their migrations.
For those who don’t know, Monarch butterflies migrate thousands of miles each year to overwinter in a mountain haven in Mexico. Truly an astounding feat compared to “normal” butterflies! Their life cycle is quite dramatic, each yearly cycle consisting of 3 generations of butterflies. Unlike migrating birds, Monarchs aren’t durable enough to make the full trip all on their own.
They must rely on the memories of their ancestors to survive!

Re: In a Forest of Tiny Minxes
That’s what these are like… giggles in flower form!
Just a quick couple of pics with Cedar today. We went for a walk, but it was grey and drizzling… not the best photo weather. I also had too much on my mind. I really needed to exercise (exorcise?) the fog out of my brain.
Cedar was fine with me being moody and quiet. After all, she did lay a lot on my plate recently. I was happy to have her with me on my walk… even if we didn’t end up taking any lovely photos.
But the clusters of Brown-Eyed Susans were irresistible!
They are such a simple flower, but one of my favorites all the same.
As Cedar and I circled the flower paths in the Meadow looking for the perfect patch, we were visited by an intrepid traveler… a Monarch Butterfly! It circled us several times and floated overhead for a bit. For a minute, I imagined I’d be lucky enough to get a photo of Cedar with it… but that wasn’t gonna happen.
This Monarch would be undertaking the long and perilous journey south. It belongs to the Hero Generation of its kind. The Brown-Eyed Susans, Goldenrods and other late-season flowers were rising up to support these Heros-of-the-Sky all along their long path. Their journey had already begun.
And this Monarch didn’t have time to fool around with us!
Thanks for visiting!

Thanks John, Lone, Victor and everyone else for stopping by! I’m glad we found something to inspire us for some photos yesterday!
More Brown-Eyed Bonus!
Look’s like the weather will be nice tomorrow morning. Perhaps Cedar and I might stop by the Gardens and see if we can find anything pretty lying around…
I bet we can!

Re: In a Forest of Tiny Minxes
“ShadowFun… can you please explain this mess?”
“Oh dang Penny… it looks like some stupid Hooman used a bunch of fake rose petals for something and just left them all on the ground.”
“As I suspected… the RUDENESS!!!”
“What kind of idiot comes to these beautiful Gardens and brings cheap fake flower petals???”
“I dunno Luv… Hoomans suck sometimes.”
“Well I’m not standing for it. Come on SF… we are going to hunt down the creeps and I’m gonna skewer them!”
“Oh… ahhh… I’m not sure that’s a good idea???”
“Hush! The trail leads this way… COME!”
“Oh look, some fancier fake petals. I bet some dork thought this trash was romantic… UGH!”
“Bet they won’t think it’s so great when I stick Needle in their eye!”
Uhhh… note to self. Never leave any trash ANYWHERE!

Re: In a Forest of Tiny Minxes
“Look’s like the trail has gone cold SF. I’ll try and get some height and see if I can pick up their stench!”
“Ahh… can’t make out anything from up here.”
“Uhhh… perhaps we could go ask the Dancing Giantesses???”
“Excellent idea ShadowFun. They certainly are very tall!”
Unfortunately, the Giantesses had no answers for Penny. This didn’t surprise me. After all, they are always so consumed with their dance… I imagine they pay very little attention to passing Hoomans.
“SF… maybe Persephone has seen the culprits. Let’s go!”
Of course, asking questions of Persephone would be no easy feat. Some significant climbing would be required to consult with her…
But Persephone hadn’t seen the rude Hoomans either. It looks like Penny’s quest to exact pointy punishment upon the culprits will be foiled. Frankly… I’m very relieved.
“Next time SF, don’t let me forget my Flammer-Cannon. That’ll teach a proper lesson to rude Hoomans!”
Yikes! And I was worried about her poking them with Needle!
